Property Fraud Alert - Free Service!

Clerk & Comptroller Sharon R. Bock has launched Property Fraud Alert, a free service that helps people protect their property from fraud by monitoring documents such as deeds and mortgages recorded in Palm Beach County. Using Property Fraud Alert, anyone can register to receive free alerts when a document is recorded using their name or their business's name. When users receive an alert, by email or phone, they can verify the activity was initiated by them and not someone attempting to commit property fraud. The public can sign up for the Clerk's Property Fraud Alert service by visiting the clerk's website at mypalmbeachclerk.com/property-fraud-alerts. Anyone who believes they have been the victim of fraud should contact their local law enforcement agency.

If you would like copies of posters or rack cards for your agency regarding this free service, please contact Tracy Rudnick at TRudnick@mypalmbeachclerk.com

The Summer BreakSpot Program 2015 Sites

Do you know a family that participates in the National School Lunch Program that could benefit from free meals for children during the summer months? The Summer BreakSpot Program has thousands of locations all over Florida to provide free nutritious meals while school is out. www.SummerFoodFlorida.org

Children need access to nutritious meals all year long to grow and thrive, but many children who rely on free and reduced-price school meals are at risk of hunger or poor nutrition when school is out for the summer.

At almost all sites, there is no application necessary and any child 18 or younger can simply come during meal times to receive a meal. However, we do suggest that you give them a call first to let the site know that your child may be coming during meal time. Some sites ask that an adult or responsible teen accompany children during the meal time because they don't have staff to handle extra children who may not be a part of their regular activity program.
Here is a list of "Summer Break Spots" in the Glades, along with their serving times:

Diabetes Coalition Releases RFP for Assistance Planning Diabetes Week 2015

The Diabetes Coalition of Palm Beach County is an alliance of healthcare organizations and community partners working together to prevent diabetes and improve the lives of people living with the disease and those who are touched by it through Education, Awareness, Quality Services, Management, and Advocacy.

In these last three years, the coalition has identified 1,694 individuals (some duplication possible) to be at risk of type II diabetes, building awareness of their health concerns and referring them for further assessment.  Thus far since our existence, the Diabetes Coalition of Palm Beach County educated a total of 4,245 children and

their families in the community regarding the risk factors for type II diabetes through one on one risk assessment interviews.  Through this process, these individuals learned how to prevent type II diabetes.

The Diabetes Coalition is currently accepting proposals for administrative assistance in planning our week long Diabetes Week risk assessment events.

During Diabetes Week 2015 (November 8 - November 15), our project goal is to complete over 2500 ADA risk screens in high risk areas at over 60 Palm Beach County sites, with data collection and analysis complete by December.

Racial Equity Institute

Race remains an important indicator of well-being in US society. When other factors that are cited as the probable reasons for health or social problems (e.g., income, education, parent involvement, access to health insurance) are controlled for in statistical analyses, race remains an important independent predictor of health, social, education, criminal justice and other outcomes. The Racial Equity Institute is designed to build the capacity of educators, health practitioners, child welfare advocates, judicial representatives, other professionals and those persons who are interested in understanding and eliminating racial inequities and disparities within our society.

This workshop is important for those who want to dismantle racism. It has been said, "An organized truth is more powerful than a disorganized lie." This training provides an analysis that helps participants gain clarity that racism is well-organized and at work in our institutional practices.
