The Doo Wop Project at the Dolly Hand

The Doo Wop Project (DWP) begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Featuring current and former stars of Broadway's smash hits Jersey Boys, and Motown: The Musical, the Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate-and in some cases entirely reimagine-some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.  $25 Adults * $21 Seniors * $10 Children & College Students/Staff

Guardian Ad Litem Program Needs Volunteers

The Guardian Ad Litem program of Palm Beach County is in need of volunteers to help us meet our mission of ensuring that every abused and neglected child in Palm Beach County has a court-appointed Guardian ad Litem (GAL). The program needs volunteers to become GALs as well as volunteers to assist with fundraising and administrative duties. Guardian ad Litem Volunteers (GAL) advocate for children who have been abused, abandoned, or neglected. As of December 2014, in Palm Beach County over 400 children still need a GAL to Speak Up! For their best interests, to ensure their basic human right to be safe, to be treated with dignity and respect, and to learn and grow in the safe embrace of a loving family.

Glades Family of Seven in Need

We have a family of 7 in our area that lost all they owned in a devastating fire the first week of January 2015. The father is the sole provider for this household and recovery from a total loss is extremely difficult, if you never experienced it you are blessed. After speaking with both of the adults in the house it was determined that there are a few major household items that they are in desperate need of. If you are able to assist in anyway in helping us to meet their needs please take the initiative and do so. You never know when it may you or your family on the opposite end of the need and it just makes you good when you are able to help someone out in disparaging times.

Items Needed:   (4 bedroom apartment and 7 family members)

,       2 twin beds (bunk beds would be awesome due to space, but we are not being choosy)

,       Bed frames for 2 twin beds, 1 Queen and 1 Full bed.

,       Box springs for each of the above mattresses.

,       Sheets for beds

,       Towels

,       Dining Set

Ex-Glades Hospital to be Rehab Center

A California drug-treatment center makes it's first entry on the East Coast. The long vacant Glades General Hospital was purchased at a deep discount last week, selling for $1.8 million to a well-known Malibu, California drug and alcohol treatment center. In a deal that closed Friday, an affiliate of Passages Malibu bought the 92,095-square-foot facility, which has been on the market since May 2013. The 14-acre property was originally advertised with a price tag of $7 million.

Program a 'First Step' in Tackling Unemployment in the Glades

At its Jan. 13 meeting, the Board of County Commissioners (BCC) voted in favor of a new hiring program that incentivizes contractors in Palm Beach County to hire employees from the Glades region. The Glades Employee Incentive Program (GEIP), unanimously approved by the commission, would pay contractors who hire Glades-area employees 30 percent of that employee's wages up to $100,000. The employee must be full-time and must have worked with the contractor for at least three weeks but no more than 90 days before applying for GEIP.

The program was created with the intention of addressing the high unemployment rate in the Glades compared to the rest of the county and to improve the employment of Glades residents on county projects. The program is being implemented on a two-year trial basis. Staff members who helped create GEIP said the program will be most effective in the Glades area because of transportation requirements to coastal projects. Though no major construction projects are forecasted for the Glades area in the near future, Audrey Wolf, director of Facilities Development and Operations, said several renewal and replacement projects are scheduled, including water and utilities projects and road and bridge projects. Ultimately, however, the program will depend on contractor support.

Rock Legends: People's Choice

Rock Legends: People's Choice is part rock concert...part rock tribute...all rock n' roll. Rock Legends combines all of these elements to create a show that is the only one of its kind. In this unique rock and roll revue created by audience favorite Billy McGuigan (of Yesterday & Today: The interactive Beatles Experience and Rave On: The Buddy Holly Experience), audiences are given the opportunity to vote, through the power of their applause, for the songs and music they want to hear. Rock Legends' musical choices take audiences on a journey from the 50s rock and roll of Elvis, Buddy, and Patsy Cline, to the psychedelic 60s of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin. They'll hit the groove of the

70s with the Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and the piano men - Billy and Elton and even dabble in the music of the 80s with the likes of Tom Petty, U2 and more! Rock Legends takes on the personality and taste of the audience making each show unique!
