Strong Start for Children Dialogue Group: Kindergarten Readiness

Bridges at Belle Glade is excited about your participation in its annual, Strong Starts for Children, community dialogue group.  This year's focus is Kindergarten Readiness.  Your strong voice and creative ideas will help Bridges at Belle Glade raise awareness about the need for children to receive early learning skills that make them eager and ready to learn before entering school in the Belle Glade community. The sessions are scheduled each Wednesday beginning on January 30. This will be our time to open up and share information that will provide the platform for community wide action and allow us to create a tool that will promote kindergarten readiness within our city. The 6 sessions will lead to planning for an action event that will require additional meetings and we will decide those dates during the last meeting.  Please call or email if you plan would like to be a part of the dialogue group.  You must RSVP before January 22, 2015

The Doo Wop Project at the Dolly Hand

The Doo Wop Project (DWP) begins at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Featuring current and former stars of Broadway's smash hits Jersey Boys, and Motown: The Musical, the Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate-and in some cases entirely reimagine-some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.  $25 Adults * $21 Seniors * $10 Children & College Students/Staff

Rock Legends: People's Choice

Rock Legends: People's Choice is part rock concert...part rock tribute...all rock n' roll. Rock Legends combines all of these elements to create ashow that is the only one of its kind. In this unique rock and roll revue created by audience favorite Billy McGuigan (of Yesterday & Today: The interactive Beatles Experience and Rave On: The Buddy Holly Experience), audiences are given the opportunity to vote, through the power of their applause, for the songs and music they want to hear. Rock Legends' musical choices take audiences on a journey from the 50s rock and roll of Elvis, Buddy, and Patsy Cline, to the psychedelic 60s of The Beatles, The Rolling Stones and Janis Joplin. They'll hit the groove of the

70s with the Bee Gees, Fleetwood Mac, The Eagles and the piano men - Billy and Elton and even dabble in the music of the 80s with the likes of Tom Petty, U2 and more! Rock Legends takes on the personality and taste of the audience making each show unique!

They are raising the funds by raffling off a 125-quart Yeti cooler, valued at over $600 and donated by Everglades Farm Equipment. Class representatives Barnie Walker and Regina Bohlen and their classmates are selling tickets for $10 each. Tickets are also available at the Belle Glade and Pahokee Chambers of Commerce.
