Glades Central Seniors Criminal Justice Academy Service Project
The senior class of the Criminal Justice Academy is assigned an annual community service project.  We usually volunteer our time at a nursing home; clean up in the community and participating in any activity on campus.  This year, students decided they wanted to be a blessing to their community.  After reading the Palm Beach Post, Criminal Justice Instructor Tara Price stumbled on a section called "Season to Share".  It spoke about several families in need during the holiday season and she realized that one of the families was one of our own.  This family had three students in Glades Central's Criminal Justice Academy.  She shared this article with the senior class and they were overwhelmed with excitement about helping this family.  All agreed that we would not talk about our activity outside of the classroom, and they would learn the importance of giving back.        After sharing the idea with Principal Moore, she wholeheartedly agreed with adopting the family.   She allowed the academy to have two (2) dress down day fundraisers to collect money.  Each student purchased a toy for the family's smaller children.  With the funds collected the academy was able to present the family with a check and more than 35 gifts and a gently used computer. The academy students were very glad they were able to participate in this project during this festive season to help one of our own Raider family members.  We pray that their smiles will be even larger this season.     The academy is committed to "Building a Brand".  The Criminal Justice Academy would like to say thank you to Mrs. Moore and the entire faculty and staff of Glade Central Community High School for their continued support.  We could not have done this without them. Pictured are the Criminal Justice students who participated in the service project, Ms. Tara Price (Criminal Justice Academy Instructor), Ms. Sherry Canty (Magnet Coordinator) & Ms. Moore (Glades Central's Principal).
Dinner and Doo Wop is Coming to the Dolly Hand! The Doo Wop Project starts at the beginning, tracing the evolution of Doo Wop from the classic sound of five guys singing tight harmonies on a street corner to the biggest hits on the radio today. Throughout the show, the Doo Wop Project takes audiences on a journey from foundational tunes of groups like the Crests, Belmonts and Flamingos through their influences on the sounds of Smokey Robinson, the Temptations, and the Four Seasons all the way to Michael Jackson, Jason Mraz and Amy Winehouse. Featuring current and former stars of Broadway's smash hits Jersey Boys and Motown: The Musical, the Doo Wop Project brings unparalleled authenticity of sound and vocal excellence to recreate-and in some cases entirely reimagine-some of the greatest music in American pop and rock history.    The Doo Wop Project will take the stage at the Dolly Hand Cultural Arts Center on Monday, February 9, 2015 at 7:30 pm. Tickets for the show are $25 for adults, $21 for seniors and $10 for students, children and  PBSC faculty & staff.    Prior to the show, come and enjoy a fabulous dinner prepared by the finest cooks in the Glades!
