Belle Glade's Bill Bailey Community Center Receives Colorful Makeover
Large slabs of wood leaned prominently against the back wall of the Bill Bailey Community Center in Belle Glade Monday afternoon, as more than a doze n teens clamored around with paint brushes in hand. A stroke of blue here, a brush of red there, students painted colorful renditions of their own silhouettes in a community mural project spearheaded by the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach County, in partnership with Art in Public Places and the Solid Waste Authority's recycled paint program.
Part of a renovation project focusing on the community center, the painted panels will be hung together on the center's south wall, facing Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard. Once hung, the 20 4x8 panels will create a colorful mural representing the boys and girls of the Boys and Girls Club, replacing original panels painted in 2002.
