Florence French, Community Organizer with Enroll America's "Get Covered America Campaign" since June of 2013, will be in attendance to make a presentation on Enrollment: Connecting individuals to health insurance through the marketplaces. Ms. French's presentation is intended to increase public awareness about the new health insurance benefits and health care options made available under the Affordable Care Act (ACA). Ms. French will also provide a summary of what has been accomplished during the first open enrollment period for the health insurance marketplaces and what is being planned for the second enrollment period.

All Stars Building Bright Futures ~ Parent and Youth Orientation
All stars prevents substance abuse use (alcohol, tobacco, marijuana, and inhalants)premature sexually activity, fighting, bullying and delinquency. This program also enhances positive characteristic we all want your people to develop. We will provide thirteen sessions of All Stars to youth in the 5th-12th grades. In this, our sixth year, we need you more than ever to create an even louder voice regarding the top issues facing nonprofits in Palm Beach County. Completion of the survey form is a critical first step to ensuring that our legislative delegation and their colleagues in both Houses of the state legislature understand the many challenges facing health and human services providers in Palm Beach County and the residents they serve. Then, plan to attend the legislative priorities workshop on the morning of October 24 so that YOU together set the priorities for your area(s) of interest.
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Opens CenteringPregnancy� in the Glades
Healthy Mothers, Healthy Babies Coalition of Palm Beach County has opened a new office in Belle Glade. Located at 1077A South Main Street, the organization will provide CenteringPregnancy�, an evidence based group prenatal care program for pregnant women in the Glades.With generous funding from the Quantum Foundation and March of Dimes and in partnership with OB/GYN Specialists of Lakeside and Children's Services Council, CenteringPregnancy integrates health assessment, education and support into a unified program within a group setting. Eight to twelve pregnant women with similar gestational ages will meet over ten sessions throughout their pregnancy, receive prenatal check ups from a medical provider with OB/GYN Specialists of Lakeside, health education about their pregnancy and newborn care, time to talk about health concerns, healthy snacks at every session and the opportunity to build relationships with other women in the program. Fathers are also welcome to participate with their partner.

Diabetes Coalition Looking for Volunteers & Sites to Conduct Risk Assessments During Diabetes Week
Help the coalition in their quest to identify individuals at are risk for diabetes - so they can get the help and access to resources they need!
In preparation for Diabetes Week 2014, the Diabetes Coalition is in need of Glades area organizations and churches that already have a large number of people coming to your facility who may be at-risk for diabetes - willing to serve as a site to perform diabetes risk assessments during the week of November 10 through November 16. They are also in need of volunteers to help individuals complete the risk assessment - which is a paper questionnaire, offered in English, Spanish, and Creole. Training is available for volunteers in how to complete the assessment. Each person screened will receive a resource bag.
