Go Bold Lips for Sickle Cell

Help raise awareness for Sickle cell disease. This is a 30 day social media awareness campaign to get people talking and sharing information about sickle cell disease.  Simply put your boldest lipstick on,take a photo, and post it on social media - either Facebook, instagram, youtube, twitter..

Sickle cell disease is a genetic disorder that causes red blood cells to become "sickle" shaped, making it harder to flow through blood vessels.  This keeps red blood cells and the oxygen they carry getting to all parts of the body.  Blocked blood flow can cause severe pain and organ damage.  Complications can range from mild fatigue to more severe symptoms such as stokes, heart attacks, infections, and pain crises.

Young Singers of the Palm Beaches ~ Announcing Details on new "Choir in The Glades"

Young Singers of the Palm Beaches (YSPB) invites you to join them for a "Choir in the Glades" Kick-Off Press Conference and announcement of our upcoming plans in the communities of Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Canal Point. Multiple local community leaders and County officials will be on hand, as well as several current Young Singers from our core West Palm Beach program to entertain. There is a large amount of untapped talent among the underserved children of the Glades region.

Young Singers of the Palm Beaches is beginning a new all-inclusive satellite chorus, offering free music education to the children of the Belle Glade, Pahokee, South Bay and Canal Point areas. Initially the program will include 3rd, 4th and 5th grade children. This program is possible due to a generous grant by the Community Foundation of Palm Beach and Martin Counties. It will be offered at no charge to the families in the Glades. Auditions for "Choir in the Glades" will be in October. Choir rehearsals in the Glades begin in January, 2015. Young Singers' core program, based at the Kravis Center, just began its 12th season as Palm Beach County's premiere community children's chorus, serving over 350 singers in 7 choirs as well as over a thousand children in our After School and summer programs. GiveMeLiberty

______________________________________________________________________________________________

Give Me Liberty Tour

St. Johns First Missionary Baptist invite you to join them in one of the many "Give Me Liberty" tours scheduled throughout the state. You will hear notable pastors, representatives and political leaders speak to us about the state of the nation, biblical foundations for government, real solutions for the dilemma we are in and our call to engage. This reoccurring assessment from Judges is certainly applicable today as we watch the culture grow increasingly hostile to the traditional teachings of biblical Christianity.

Have we departed from the rule and reign of the True King, and do we insist on doing what is right in our own eyes?  This is not only apparent in our churches, but also our families and particularly our government. If one state will be bold enough to stand on the Constitution and biblical principles, we believe that others will follow.  We must reestablish a culture based on state sovereignty as defined in the Constitution and stop recognizing Washington's unconstitutional abuse of power.  The national government has no constitutional authority to murder the unborn, contradict God's natural law on marriage, impose Obama Care, demean and attack our Christian faith, transform us into a socialist state, or control our educational institutions. Speakers for this event:  Janet Porter, John Stemberger and Dexter Sanders.

WHEN: Saturday, September 20, 2014 6:30 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

YWCA Seeking Nominations for 2014 Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award

The YWCA of Palm Beach County is seeking nominations for its 2014 Barry Krischer Humanitarian Award.  Established in 2008 to honor the then-retiring State Attorney, the award recognizes a law enforcement, social services or health care professional who has gone beyond the normal "call of duty" to assist or advocate for a victim of domestic violence.

Fireman Home Safe Center for Children.

The deadline for nominations is Friday, September 19, 2014 5:00 p.m.
