2014 The Arc of the Glades Awards Luncheon

The special recipient this year is Steve Weeks. Among his notable accomplishments: he is a long-time Board member (16 years over two stints) serving in multiple officer roles; a local business owner (retired); a former City Councilman and Mayor of Belle Glade; and the go-to guy for many organizations that have served the Glades and its citizens, as a Board member or as just a caring friend and neighbor.  His quiet and unassuming manner coupled with his willingness to help where needed is probably best exemplified by his response when advised that he was this year's honoree ("Pick someone else....I don't need this"), and his reluctance to accept the award only resolved when he was reassured that it helped the Arc of the Glades. Join us in honoring Steve Weeks and his lifetime commitment of service to our Community and dedication to the people served by The Arc. Tickets $ 30.00 person

New Information on CSC Scholarships for Afterschool Care

Children remain eligible for CSC Scholarships for Afterschool until the last day of school of the year that they turn 12. Once a child is determined eligible, parents will not have to submit additional pay stubs or verification of employment letters each year. Children must maintain attendance, which means they must attend their afterschool program regularly. If a child is dropped from an afterschool program because they do not attend, the child's parents will have to re-apply for services with Family Central and will be placed on the wait-list until scholarship funding becomes available.

2014 Trafficking In America Conference: Restoring Humanity from Modern Day Slavery

For 10 years we have worked to educate America about the issues surrounding human trafficking.  As Trafficking In America Task Force works to prepare for the 2014 National Trafficking In America Conference we are mindful of all that has been accomplished since we first began our work in 2004. We have seen a tremendous rise in a desire for education and moved from experiencing doors closed in our faces to invitations to present more education. The fruit is now being seen for the many years of persistence and we attribute some of this to the Annual Trafficking In America Conferences. The theme of the 2014 Trafficking In America Conference is Restoring Humanity From Modern Day Slavery.

WHEN:  Wednesday July 16, 2014 9:00 a.m. or Friday July 18, 2014  6:00 p.m.

WHERE: Hilton Palm Beach Airport, 150 Australian Avenue, West Palm Beach
