Glades REACH Health Fair Planning Meeting

Changed from Thursday November 14, 2013  to Friday November 22, 2013 9:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m

Please Come.  We need all the help we can get in planning this worthwhile community event.

The Glades REACH health fair began 13 years ago to address healthcare disparities and access in our community.  Each year, hundreds of uninsured and underinsured children and families attend the REACH health fair to access quality health care and education at no cost.  They have medically trained interpreters on site during the entire event to assist the many in our community with limited English skills.  This project features approximately 100 service providers to educate residents about the local services available to them.  The event will be held on Saturday, February 1, 2014 at the CL Brumback Health Center in Belle Glade.  Typically, free lunch is offered to all attendees as well as volunteers.

Glades Public Workshops Set to Discuss Master Plan

The Glades Region Master Plan is a community-driven process that will craft a blueprint for economic development and redevelopment, focusing on major employment centers including the proposed Intermodal Logistics Center.  Two workshops have been scheduled to provide a forum for Glades residents to learn, ask questions, and make suggestions about the plan components, the results of current studies and recommendations for infrastructure improvements. During the week following each workshop, a project team will set up a design studio at the above locations to provide an open forum for members of the public to visit at their convenience to ask questions, learn more and provide input.  The workshops and design studios are a key element to the public participation process and are intended to keep Glades neighborhoods engaged, informed and involved in the planning process. Many of you may remember that Palm Beach County received a $2 million grant to do this. They are doing their part- now it is time for us to do our part. Our responsibility is to provide them with input on what we want and need here in the Glades as we plan for our future.
