Association benefit of the month: Maverick Discount Program

Each month we will be highlighting benefits available to you as a member of the Maverick Parent & Family Association. Hopefully this will remind you to take advantage of these great resources!

UT Arlington joins Sun Belt Conference
 

UT Arlington Athletics began a new chapter July 1, 2013 as a member of the Sun Belt Conference. Previously, UTA had been a member of the Western Athletic Conference.

 

"We are honored and excited to join the Sun Belt Conference," UT Arlington President Dr. Vistasp M. Karbhari said. "I believe this represents an extraordinary opportunity for UT Arlington to continue on its journey to even greater athletic excellence. This is a tremendous opportunity for our student-athletes."

 

Fellow Sun Belt Conference members include Arkansas State, Georgia State, Louisiana-Lafayette, Louisiana-Monroe, South Alabama, Texas State, Troy, Western Kentucky University, and Arkansas-Little Rock. In addition, more institutions are set to join the conference in 2014: Appalachian State, Georgia Southern, Idaho, and New Mexico State.

UTA Day at Six Flags over Texas to be held Aug. 25
Six Flags croppedHave some fun with your student this summer at Six Flags over Texas! UTA Day at Six Flags will be held Sunday, Aug. 25. Student prices are $25/ticket (purchase by Aug. 18); students may purchase up to 10 tickets. 

 

The park opens at 10:30 am and will be exclusively open to the UTA community from 6-9 pm. Tickets may be purchased at www.utatickets.com. You must bring your receipt to the College Park Center Box Office at 601 Spaniolo Drive to exchange it for ACTUAL TICKETS by Friday, August 23, 2013 at noon. No refunds or exchanges.

Parent volunteers needed for Move-In Day Cookout
The Parent & Family Center will be hosting a free cookout for all parents and students during move-in day, Aug. 19, from 11 am-2 pm in the Palo Duro (University Center). If you are interested in helping greet fellow parents, please email parents@uta.edu. We appreciate your help and willingness to show off your Maverick spirit and welcome new families to UT Arlington!
