The UT Arlington Career Center offers the following services to undergraduates, graduates and alumni:
Career consulting assists students interested in choosing an academic major or graduate program, identifying potential careers or areas of professional interest, or working to integrate their academic and/or professional pursuits with their broader life choices. An effective career planning process should involve:
EXPLORING CAREER OPTIONS
Learning about your career choices is an important step in this process. You can find out more about your career options by conducting further research online using the career exploration websites we suggested; using the print materials in our Career Library; or through informational interviews. There are a variety of ways to explore your career options, discuss them with your career consultant.
SETTING GOALS & TAKING ACTION
We encourage you to set goals and then take action to pursue those goals. You may decide to apply for your first job, seek further education, enhance your skills, make changes in your current job, or seek a new career altogether. Your career consultant can help you in preparing for a job search, networking, writing your resume, and practicing for interviews.
The Career Center offers several personality and interest assessments to help students understand and match their skills, interests and values with various career possibilities, as well as accessing information about careers and educational programs.We provide the following career resources to assist you in your career exploration. Resources include: MyPlan, O*NET, Career Mentoring Online, Texas Workforce, Keirsey Temperament Sorter, CareerOneStop, TypeFocus, What Can I Do With This Major?, Bureau of Labor Statistics, JobWeb, Myers- Briggs Type Indicator (MBTI), and Strong Interest Inventory (SII).
CAREER FAIRS AND EVENTS
Every semester The Career Center coordinates numerous fairs and events to assist students in locating employment opportunities and exploring potential career paths, networking and identifying career opportunities. These fairs and events also support employers in their recruitment efforts. Career Fairs are held each Spring and Fall.
