The 2014 hurricane season arrives after one that was unusually quiet. For example, there wasn't a single Category 2 or greater hurricane that formed in the Atlantic, Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico in 2013, according to The Weather Channel. The last time that happened - or, to be more precise, didn't happen - was in 1968. Additionally, last year's season was the first since 1994 not to have a single Category 3 storm or stronger.
