Festival wins Brodniak Award
recognizing youth art support

We are honored to have been named the 2016 recipient of the Walter A Brodniak Cultural Education Award through the Anacortes School District.

In 2016, the Festival has granted $42,000 for 21 projects that fund arts education programming and support, including a piano purchase for the middle school/high school choir, an art library and creative spaces at Fidalgo Elementary, the education outreach program with the Museum of Northwest Art (MoNA), instrument support for the Seahawk Music Boosters and the Local Artist in the Schools (LAIS) program.

"More than any other organization in the community, the Anacortes Arts Festival is dramatically impacting the artistic lives of our students," school superintendent Dr. Mark Wenzel said.

The exhibition is part of Arts at the Port in the Port Transit Shed at the north end of the Festival.  It opens on Saturday, July 30th.

Festival Volunteers
Online signup coming soon

After a successful April trial, we are moving to Volunteer Local, an online volunteer signup.  Our goal is to make the process simpler for our volunteers and more accurate from our end.   Volunteers will be able to see shifts in real time and instantly sign up to fit their schedules.   We expect to have around 300 volunteers and value everything they do to make the Festival a success.  Watch for an upcoming postcard with information, or visit our volunteer page for a link in early June.

Farm to Table Event
featuring culinary arts & wine

To compliment the beautiful Port setting with our fine art show, we decided to add a new kind of event this year.  Our first Farm to Table dinner will showcase the wonderful bounty of our region. The date is Sunday, July 31st at 5pm. The menu will include high-end organic courses prepared by local chefs, paired with premium Washington wines from the Brown Family Winery in Walla Walla. Our Fine Art Exhibition will add to the ambience and focus of the evening.  Tickets will go on sale online in June, and seating will be limited.  Stay tuned for more information...

We were recently listed among the best Seattle Festivals (even though we're obviously not in Seattle).
