April Events
providing arts funding for kids

What started as an idea to put Anacortes on the map during the busy Tulip Festival, has turned into an exciting variety of events from April 15 - 23.  At the historic Depot Art Center, the lineup includes a Fine Art Exhibition featuring 30 artists, Evening of Color auction event, a NEW Art of Shopping women's shopping day and the Do the Bloom Color Run.  Proceeds from these events fund arts education for students in the Anacortes School District (like the upcoming all-second-graders visit to Mt Baker Theater in Bellingham to see the Big Friendly Giant production).

PIANO-cortes public art project

Picture this...painted pianos adorn the downtown streets of Anacortes and entice musicians to stop and play. Thanks to a collaboration with the City of Anacortes and Anacortes School District, our new public art project, PIANO-cortes, will do just that during the month of August.   We have the pianos, we have the streets - now we just need a few artists (professional,  amateur or groups) who want to paint them.   If you are interested in participating in this colorful and musical project, please contact Rita James, Festival Creative Manager, for more information.   She can be reached at (360) 293-6211 or pr@anacortesartsfestival.com

Best Event in Anacortes
Festival wins!

Once again we have been selected as the Best Event in Anacortes by readers of the Anacortes American.  We appreciate the honor and want to thank everyone who cast their vote for us.

NEW Art Dash date
joining Festival weekend

The Art Dash is moving to Saturday, August 6 - FESTIVAL WEEKEND!!   In its 11th year, the Art Dash is a certified half-marathon, 10k, 5k that takes place along the beautiful Anacortes waterfront trail.   Ending at the Port warehouse, this year participants will be able to enjoy live music, a beer garden, a fine art show and a WHOLE FESTIVAL after the race.  Plan to join the fun!
Volunteer Changes
new online process

This year, we are moving to an online volunteer sign-up for both our April events and the Festival in August. Our goal in this change is to make the process quicker and more accurate. Volunteers will be able to see shifts available in real time and pick what works for their schedule. We value your time and want to make signing up simple!  The new system will be in early March - just in time for April opportunities.
