Greetings!

Welcome to the second Tanners Newsletter.

If you missed the first newsletter you can see it here:

We have over 60 vendors signed up so far! It's going to be a Great Show!

There are still a few booth spaces left so if you are thinking that maybe the garage is just a bit too full you still have time to get signed up.

Levy Restaurants will be providing food and beverages during the show.  Once it's closer to the show I'll pass on what they will be offering.

If any of you vendors have a website please email me the information and I'll add it to a Links page on the website and post it in a future Newsletter.

On that note the new Constant Contact events system has an option to list the registered vendors.  Do any of you have an objection to being listed so visitors can see who's coming?

If you are a Vendor/Exhibitor and haven't signed up for your space at the show please do so right away as spaces are filling up fast!

Click the Vendor Signup link to the right.

If you are thinking about being a vendor at the show and have questions please look at the website and give me a call or send me an email.

If you get 2 emails then you may be on both the vendor list and the general list.

Setup Info
1.   Setup will be Friday the 15th from 12:00 noon until 6:00.
We will also be open at 7:30 on Saturday morning for dealers to come and finish setting up.  Your packet and badges will be at the front door.   Coffee ..Sodas..Water and  Cookies will be in the back as usual.

2.    Saturday we will be open to the general public 9a.m. to 5p.m.   Sunday 9a.m. to 3p.m. Dealers can come in at 8a.m. each morning.

3.    Don't forget to order your tables and chairs if you need  them. The rented  tables are 8ft.x2 ft. Please bring table coverings for them. It is also a very good idea to have lights in your booth as the building is quite dark (bring 3 prong ext. cords too).

4.     Thank you (ahead of time) for turning in your tax money at the end of the show.  PLEASE do not break down your booth until 3 p.m. on Sunday.

We always have people who come in at the last hour.

Please let me know if you need tables and chairs and didn't specify them on your sign-up page so I can get them from the Events Center staff.
A few people have asked if there are places to stay close to the events center.   There are several motels about a block away and the casinos are close too. Kayak.com lists some close by ones. You can narrow the search in the location box.:
A friend of mine stays at the SandsRegency Hotel Casino when he visits. They usually have some good deals going. I did a quick check and found their deals page:
Once he visited the first time they keep sending him free nights tickets.
Motel 6 is about a block away:
Days Inn is just a little further:
Americas Best Travel Inn is right at the freeway exit too:
There is a 24 hour Denny's and a Carrows restaurant very close. (walking dist. from motels, right at the freeway exit)

We are open to any ideas that you have to let more collectors know about the show and get attendance up. On that note please click the Forward to a Friend link above and let anyone you think might be interested know about us.

If you would like to help advertise the show we have created a flier with tear off tabs that you can print out and post on local bulletin boards or at your office. Many grocery stores etc. have places to post local events and every little bit helps get the word out. The more people that come the better everyone's sales will be!

Click Here for a Printable PDF file of a flier to post locally

If it doesn't print in color you may have to save it locally and open it in adobe Reader.

Removing tape and labels from paper collectibles.

Did you ever pass on a really great piece of ephemera at a yard sale because the owner had used masking tape or a label to put the price on it?

Certainly the tape is reason to negotiate a lower price but that old magazine, etc. may still be salvageable. When you get it home use a hair dryer to warm the tape and then slowly start working at peeling the tape back as you continue to heat it. Remember to be patient and work it slowly.

You can also try Goof Off (available everywhere). Put a few drops on the edge of the tape and let it sit a few seconds. Carefully start lifting the edge applying a little more Goof Off as needed to remove the tape.  Try a small test spot in an inconspicuous area to make sure it doesn't react to the paper.

It will change color at first but evaporates quickly.

Let's make this a fun forum to keep interest and excitement up for the shows!

Sincerely,

Trivia Time
The "Reno Arch" was erected on Virginia Street in 1926 to promote the upcoming Transcontinental Highways Exposition of 1927. The arch included the words "Nevada's Transcontinental Highways Exposition" and the dates of the exposition. After the exposition, the Reno City Council decided to keep the arch as a permanent downtown gateway, and Mayor E.E. Roberts asked the citizens of Reno to suggest a slogan for the arch. No acceptable slogan was received until a $100 prize was offered, and G.A. Burns of Sacramento was declared the winner on March 14, 1929, with "Reno, The Biggest Little City in the World".
