Pediatrician Input Needed: MN Centralized Vaccine Purchase Proposal
A conference call is scheduled for Wednesday, Dec. 5th from noon - 12:30pm to get member input and recommendations on a proposal for a Minnesota centralized vaccine purchase program and legislation. This proposal would allow the state to purchase vaccine for children/teens and distribute it to clinics. Clinics would no longer purchase or bill for vaccines administered to children/teens 0-18 years of age. The MN-AAP Immunization work group would like to hear what impact this proposed change would have on your clinic and if it would be beneficial or pose more barriers for improving immunization rates among Minnesota children/teens.
Please call 1-866-740-1260 and enter access code 1022058 to participate.
Peds Day at the Capitol: Wednesday, February 13
If you had 10 minutes to spend with your local representatives, what suggestions would you offer to protect and advance the health of Minnesota's children and teens?
Here's your chance to weigh in on important issues that affect your practice as well as your patients. MN-AAP is arranging for key representatives to speak about several hot-button issues in a large group setting and can arrange for member pediatricians to meet individually with their local representatives, if possible. Discussions will take place between 12:30 and 5 p.m. but you can arrive any time. Cost is free. Agenda and more details coming soon.

2013 AAP Council and Section Executive Committee Vacancies
AAP Councils and Sections are a great way to get involved at the national level! In 2013 there will be over 100 vacancies to fill on the Council and Section executive committees. An executive committee is the leadership body comprised of a chairperson and executive committee members.
Here are brief descriptions of Councils and Sections:
Any interested candidate must be up to date with their National AAP membership and be a member of the Council or Section for which they are being considered. Candidate information will be shared with the nominations committees for each Council or Section, who will weigh in on the nominations received and make their decision by mid-January. Elections are conducted in March. The list of needs for each council vacancy is attached. Should you have any questions, please contact Carolyn Mensching at the National office at 800-433-9016 ext 4079 or via email at cmensching@aap.org
