Kriti Artists in Residence Program

The Artists in Residence program is an effort by Kriti Gallery to provide a space for artists from all fields of art to interact with each other, Kriti Gallery, and the city of Banaras.
The Residency is ideally located in the city with green tranquil space for contemplation and peace yet not far from the hustle and bustle of the centre of the city. They are an oasis in the city, eager to facilitate artistic pursuits and support the making of the art as well as the sharing within and outside the city.
Applications are accepted all year around.
Raghurajpur International Art / Cultural Exchange

The Raghurajpur International Art / Cultural Exchange (RIA / CE) is an opportunity for contemporary, conceptual, and craft artists to live, learn, and exchange ideas and skills with the master craftspeople of Orissa, India.
During the 5-week exchange, artists from around the world share the lifestyle of 200 artisan families in this rural village while studying with master craftsmen and learning traditional skills such as palm leaf carving, stone and wood carving, pata chitra and tassar painting, dhokra (metal casting), coir (coconut straw) toy making, paper mache mask making, ganjapa playing card making, and cow dung toy making. Performing artists study classical dance forms such as gotipua, odishi, and folk forms like naga, durga, and horse (chaiti ghoda) dancing.
These traditional skills can then be incorporated into the artists' individual and collaborative projects during the residency.

Trusting the Universe

I turned 54 at 7:13 ET this morning. As I sat here in the dark wrapped in my comforter with my cup of coffee, I remembered how I felt and where I was in my life last year on my birthday. As unsettling and challenging as 2013 was, I'm grateful for the changes the past 12 months brought... an amazing new person in my life who loves me with a purity and intensity I've never known before... people who moved on with love and grace because it was time... new personal and professional relationships that are taking my life in exciting new directions... a new direction for Gypsy Wolf Marketing and Dakini Dreams... a renewed focus on my weavings (my artwork is now available at New Mexico Creates)... a continuing self-care regimen including yoga, tribal fusion belly dancing, and spa treatments... making the leap to work with life and business coach, Christine Kane in her Platinum Mastermind program... and new daily rituals including meditation and affirmations to keep me centered and on track.

It's hard to trust that everything is going to work out sometimes, especially for a control freak like me, but last year taught me that ultimately the Universe really does look out for us. If we let it.

NEXT 2014
Houston, TX
June 7 - July 5, 2014
Deadline for Submission: March 31, 2014 (ONLINE)

PrintMatters is pleased to announce NEXT 2014, a contemporary print biennial to be held during PRINTHOUSTON 2014. We are looking for innovative and challenging works that transcend process and materials and present printmaking as a versatile and adaptable medium. We invite artists who are pushing the boundaries of techniques and materials to apply. We also welcome those artists who are using traditional techniques to speak to contemporary audiences.

In addition to lithography, relief, intaglio, monotype, or serigraphy, we are interested in artists who use printmaking to create installations, ceramics, sculpture, and artists' books. The only criteria, beyond excellent quality, is that the primary technique(s) used in the creation of the work be listed above.

The Desire Map: A Guide to Creating Goals with Soul
Danielle LaPorte

Your bucket list. Quarterly objectives. Strategic plans. Big dreams. Goals. Lots of goals and plans to achieve those goals -- no matter what. Except...

You're not chasing the goal itself, you're actually chasing the feeling that you hope achieving that goal will give you.

Which means we have the procedures of achievement upside down. We go after the stuff we want to have, get, or accomplish and we hope that we'll be fulfilled when we get there. It's backwards. And it's burning us out.

So what if you first got clear on how you actually wanted to feel in your life and then created some "Goals with Soul"?

With The Desire Map, Danielle LaPorte brings you a holistic life-planning tool that will revolutionize the way you go after what you want in life. Unapologetically passionate and with plenty of warm wit, LaPorte turns the concept of ambition inside out and offers an inspired, refreshingly practical workbook for using the Desire Map process.
