The Benefits of Reclaimed and Specialty Wood 

Course Description: This course will provide a brief review of the evolution of Reclaimed & Specialty building materials. After completing this course, architects, designers, and installers will be familiar with the origins and evolution of the practice and will be familiar with common specifying, sourcing, milling, and installation challenges.


Learning Objectives:

At the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Identify the benefits of Reclaimed & Specialty wood. 
  • Identify suitable sources of FSC Certified Reclaimed and Specialty wood. 
  • Understand the milling process required in crafting wood surfaces. 
  • Recognize different applications for Reclaimed and Specialty wood flooring, paneling, and beams.
  • Determine the appropriate specification requirements when using Reclaimed & Specialty wood.
