Larchmont architect, James Fleming, was awarded a 2013 Design Award by the Westchester Hudson Valley AIA Chapter for his recent work on the Larchmont Yacht Club. This project restores the Larchmont Yacht Club's East End. The goal was to restore historic elements after over 100 years of use and alterations, and to create more efficient service spaces - especially day to day food service and event operations. It was imperative that historic sensitivity and functional improvements work hand-in-hand. The verandas were rebuilt from the footings up, dining spaces were reconfigured and renovated, and kitchen and back-of-the-house functions were moved up from the basement to the main floor for better efficiency, all while maintaining the historic integrity of the original club. According to the judges: "The jury found this to be a sensitive and well executed project, particularly the seamless rebuilding of the veranda and dining spaces."

This project was also recently recognized with a Gold Award in the Historic Renovation category in the 2013 Professional Remodeler Magazine Design Awards, a BAHV Pinnacle Award for " Historical Commercial Renovation of the Year" and a HBRA-CT HOBI award for "Outstanding Out-of-State Commercial Rehab Project: Quarterdeck at Larchmont Yacht Club"
