A Big Thank You to All Volunteers Many of Rail Events' partner railroads and museums rely heavily on the contributions of volunteers- generous individuals who donate their efforts and/or resources in order to perform charitable acts, helpful work or services, without any expectation of reward, particularly those that are tangible. These volunteers act altruistically, or selflessly, in donating their efforts. Material reward isn't expected; there is satisfaction in the knowledge of their contributions to the well-being or success of the museum and the project or event. From the aspect of common courtesy, sincere thanks are given and received from the organization's leadership. It is difficult for most organizations to convey the deep appreciation to volunteers that truly expresses the gratitude for the volunteer's contributions. Tangible forms of appreciation such as awards and recognition go a long way toward expressing this appreciation, but can still fall short of acknowledging the crucial role that volunteers play in historic preservation. To all the volunteer at all of the Rail Events partner organizations we say, "Thank You, your work is deeply appreciated and essential to saving these historic treasures!"

Did you know that each wooden train whistle in Maine Narrow Gauge Railroad Museum's gift shop is handmade by one lovely gentleman? He's been volunteering his woodworking skills for 20 years. Thank you Mr. Vigeant!
