A lab manager position is available in the laboratory of Roberto Cabeza ( www.cabezalab.org) at the Center for Cognitive Neuroscience of Duke University ( www.mind.duke.edu). fMRI scanning ( www.biac.duke.edu) and TMS ( http://sites.google.com/site/duken3lab/) facilities are located within a few hundred yards. Research at the Cabeza Lab focuses on the neural mechanisms of memory in young and older adults using fMRI, DTI, and TMS. Duties include recruitment and neuropsychological testing of young and older participants, MRI scanning and analysis, supervision and training of undergraduate students, and general laboratory administration. The position includes opportunities for research and co-authorship of abstracts and papers. The position also includes participation in many intellectual activities (talks, seminars, courses, etc.) and eligibility for a post-baccalaureate fellowship in functional neuroimaging ( www.biac.duke.edu/fellowship). Qualifications: B.A. or equivalent with a background in psychology, neuroscience, computer science, biomedical engineering, or a related field. All candidates should have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills, good computer skills, and some research experience. The ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and attention to detail are essential. Experience in computer programming and familiarity with statistics are desirable. Preparing & Applying for Grad School in Psychology

This series of 12 videos takes prospective graduate students step-by-step through the preparation, application, interview and admission processes. The presenters combine decades of advising experience and research findings with evidence-based and anxiety-reducing strategies for mastering each step. Each video is 20-25 min and there is a link for supplemental handouts.

On This Day: 22 February
1788 - Arthur Schopenhauer was born. Schopenhauer contributed an early theory of color vision but is best known for his theory of the primacy of the will as the determinant of individual behavior.
1796 - Adolphe Quételet was born. Quételet was a probability theorist who applied the "law of deviation from an average," now called the normal curve, to biological and social attributes. He coined the term "statistics."
1899 - Martha Guernsey Colby was born. Colby was an innovative researcher in the area of child development. Colby was the second woman to receive the PhD from the University of Michigan (1922).
1930 - Walter Mischel was born. Mischel contributed to personality theory and assessment through analysis of personality trait conceptions, studies of the perception and organization of personality constancies, and by making a case for cross-situational distinctiveness of behavior. APA Distinguished Scientific Contribution Award, 1982.
