Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every  Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7p. Admission  is $5 on Tuesday and $6 on Saturday. Line Dancing classes are also offered on Monday nights beginning at 6p. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Barn Quilt Trails 

Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.

 

Driving Loops
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Be sure to visit when planning a trip this Spring or Summer. Open Thursday through Saturday, 10a to 5p. There's never an admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.

 

Veterans' Morning Coffee & Breakfast
 at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal full breakfast including, biscuits, gravy, eggs, bacon, sausage, grits, and coffee just for veterans every Wednesday from 8:30-11a. Click to learn more.

Welcome New Members
The Chamber is pleased to announce 2 new members! Mark Your Calendars Now - Attend the Annual Alleghany Chamber Awards Banquet
The Alleghany Chamber of Commerce will host their annual Awards Banquet on Friday, November 6 at Olde Beau Golf Club. The Social Hour will begin at 5:30p with Dinner and the Awards set to start at 6:30p. This year's honorees are Alleghany Memorial Hospital, Becca's Backwoods Bean Caf�, Wayne Andrews, and Sandy Rost. An auction will take place following dinner and the presentation of awards. Tickets are now on sale for this event at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce for $35. Annual Pancake Breakfast
On Friday, October 30, 2015, the Alleghany Senior Center is having the annual pancake breakfast sponsored by the Alleghany Rotary Club from 6:30a until 9:30a. The Senior Center is located behind the courthouse at 85 E Whitehead Street. On the menu are chocolate chip, pumpkin spice and buttermilk pancakes, with sausage, and juice, coffee or milk. Tickets only $5 each and are available from any Rotary Club member, the Alleghany Public Library or Becca's Backwoods Bean Cafe. Limited delivery is available by calling 372-4640. Our first responders, including Sparta Police Dept, Alleghany County Sheriff's Dept, Alleghany County EMS, Alleghany County Rescue Squad and our Volunteer Fire Departments (Cherry Lane, Glade Creek, Laurel Springs, Piney Creek and Sparta) are invited to have FREE breakfast. 336-372-6675.
Backwoods Bean Wine Tasting
Join us on Friday, October 30 for our monthly wine tasting. We taste 4 wines, and it runs from 6pm to 8pm. We usually go with two whites and two reds, but in the winter, we generally feature more reds. But if Becca tastes something fantastic, we'll change it up. Trunk or Treat!
Celebrate Halloween at Trunk or Treat in Crouse Park, Saturday, Oct 31st from 5-7p. Decorate your vehicle for young ones to get treats from your trunk, under your hatch or pickup bed. Costume contest at 6 p.m. Prizes for best costume and an award for best vehicle decoration. Concessions available. Open to any and all. If you or your organization would like to have a fun evening at Crouse Park on Oct 31st, please consider being participant. Also, the Chamber is a drop-off point for any candy and treats for this yearly celebration. Any and all donations will be greatly appreciated! On Tuesday, Nov 10 from 6-8p join in a LinkedIn clinicIn this clinic, participants will learn how to maximize the effectiveness of LinkedIn. They will enhance their profiles, learn about groups, leverage recommendations, and much more. The purpose of LinkedIn (social media for business people) is to build relationships that can lead to partnerships and sales. We are collecting information for the 2016 Sparta Magazine and also for our Events Guide. Please let us know by December 1st if you wish to have your events included in these publications. At the minimum, we need to know the name, date, time and location of the event. We will print a disclaimer that the information is subject to change with directions as to how to get up-dated information. Any additional information will allow us to promote these events better in the magazine. We do understand that you may not have all your small details ironed out yet, but we need the minimum stated in order to include it in our publications. Alleghany Jubilee Happenings!
Join us for the Hillbilly Hoedown with Rise and Shine Band every Tuesday night. On Tuesday, October 13th, we had our October birthday celebration. Cake, ice cream and finger foods were served. No alcohol.  Admission $5 on Tuesday, $6 on Saturday, under 12 years old free. Hours are 7-10 p with all ages welcome.
