Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7p. Admission is $4. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6p. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473
River Rock Grill Music on the Porch
Spring through fall, the River Rock Grill hosts Live Music on the Porch beginning at 7p each Wednesday. The Porch is host to a variety of musical genres: country, folk, Appalachian, etc. Call 336-372-2694 to find out who's playing.
GREAT ACTIVITIES TO DO ANYTIME
Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Open Thursday through Saturday, 10a to 5p. There's never a any admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.
Veterans' Morning Coffee at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal coffee just for veterans every Wednesday from 8:30-11a. Click to learn more.
The VFW Military Museum is open to the public, 10a-2p, every Wednesday and Saturday in the basement of the VFW Post 7034, 1193 Us Highway 21 S, Sparta, NC. Admission is free.

Holiday Events Kickoff this Weekend
The ever so popular Festival of Trees will open beginning this Friday, November 29 through December 28 from 11a-1p and 3p-6p on Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Located at 60 S Main, the Rock Building beside the Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center, there are 25 beautifully decorated trees showcased. Be sure to stop by and view the creatively designed trees and feel free to leave a donation, which helps keep the lights on throughout the holiday season.
The Christmas Parade will be Saturday, November 30 beginning at 2p on Main Street. This year's theme is "The Many Joys of Christmas" and Grand Marshall is Ms. Bonnie Vaughn. And of course there will be a visitor from the North Pole too! Be on the street early, prime viewing spaces always go fast!
A huge holiday light display, High Country Lights, will be up and running again this year, beginning on Thanksgiving night at 6p at the Glade Creek Fire Department at 6374 Glade Valley Road. The lights dance to music from the radio station 96.5 FM, so be sure and tune in as you watch. The show will continue until New Year's Day from 6p-10p every night. |

These wreaths were graciously donated by Kathy Shore Nursery, Wishon Evergreens and Bottomley Evergreens.
We will be open on Wednesday from 10a-5p, Friday and Saturday from 10a-2p.

Santa is coming to Ofelia's on Main!
From 10:30a - 12:30p on Saturday, November 30, Santa Claus will be at Ofelia's on Main, 4 S Main Street, to visit with children. Bring your camera and capture those special moments between your child and Santa. There will be goodie bags for the children as well. Then stay for the parade at 2p on Main Street.

Studio Redwood Open House
Studio Redwood will be hostings a
Holiday Student Art Show & Reception on Saturday, Nov. 30th, 10 a.-Noon at 16 S Main. There will also be a drawing for FREE Door Prize!
Another class is also being offered on December 9th. A Textured Painting Techniques class will be held at 6p. Experiment with 8 different and fun ways to add texture to paintings. Dialogue Matters Story Harvesting Group
Monday, December 2, 11:15a-1p
Make plans to join this group, Monday and explore story harvesting. Story harvest gatherings will provide an opportunity to write your own stories in a safe and supportive environment. We will write about what is funny, sad, huge, small, mediocre, etc. The first 15 minutes are meet and greet followed by quiet time for writing and sharing. Bring a bag lunch.
