Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7p. Admission is $4. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6p. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473
River Rock Grill Music on the Porch
Spring through fall, the River Rock Grill hosts Live Music on the Porch beginning at 7p each Wednesday. The Porch is host to a variety of musical genres: country, folk, Appalachian, etc. Call 336-372-2694 to find out who's playing.
GREAT ACTIVITIES TO DO ANYTIME
Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Open Thursday through Saturday, 10a to 5p. There's never a any admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.
Veterans' Morning Coffee at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal coffee just for veterans every Wednesday from 8:30-11a. Click to learn more.
The VFW Military Museum is open to the public, 10a-2p, every Wednesday and Saturday in the basement of the VFW Post 7034, 1193 Us Highway 21 S, Sparta, NC. Admission is free.

We met Tuesday, October 22 and discussed putting together a holiday shopping list for locals. Look for the ad in next week's Alleghany News.
Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 26 at 8a in the Alleghany Inn Conference Room. I hope you all will join us for this month's meeting. We will be discussing window displays and ways to entice customers. There will be a door prize drawing, you must attend to be eligible to win.

 This Friday, November 15, Hard Tymes will be performing at 5:30p at Buckaroo's Grill. Saturday, Jest Country will be playing live beginning at 5:30p. Over 18 authors will be at the following locations: Alleghany Historical Museum, Alleghany County Public Library, Becca's Backwoods Bean Coffeeshop, Books N' Friends, Centerview, Homespun, Imaging Specialists, Inc., Mangum-Cater on Main, Murphy's Mercantile, Ofelia's on Main, and Studio Redwood. Food items, hygiene items and miscellaneous items are needed for the package which will go out the last week of November. Give the Gift of Life
Red Cross Bloodmobile in at Sparta UMC
The Red Cross Bloodmobile will be at Sparta United Methodist Church on Monday, November 25 from 9:30 until 2p. Please take time from your day to donate to this lifesaving cause. This will be the last visit to this site this year. Due to so many disasters, the blood supplies are low and all donors will be welcomed and appreciated.
