 Come just to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play every Tuesday and Saturday beginning at 7p. Admission is $4. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

 Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6p. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473
River Rock Grill
Music on the Porch
 Spring through fall, the River Rock Grill hosts Live Music on the Porch beginning at 7p each Wednesday. The Porch is host to a variety of musical genres: country, folk, Appalachian, etc. Call 336-372-2694 to find out who's playing.
GREAT ACTIVITIES TO DO ANYTIME
 Barns and other buildings around the county display squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
 Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany country-side are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
 Open Thursday through Saturday, 10a to 5p. There's never a any admission charge. Stop by to experience local history and to see the new displays, 7 North Main Street, Sparta.
Veterans' Morning Coffee at the VFW
The VFW hosts an informal coffee just for veterans every Wednesday from 8:30-11a. Click to learn more.
The VFW Military Museum is open to the public, 10a-2p, every Wednesday and Saturday in the basement of the VFW Post 7034, 1193 Us Highway 21 S, Sparta, NC. Admission is free.

Saturday Music in the Park
RainJacket, Oldies Band
This Saturday, August 10, the band RainJacket, will be performing at 6p in Crouse Park. This is a great oldies band that will be performing all those classic hits. Admission is FREE, so come out and bring your friends and a lawn chair or blanket.

Classic Car Extravaganza
 Come to Kathy Shore Nursery, US Hwy 21S, Sparta, on Saturday, August 10, 2013. Gates and concessions will open at 11am. Admission is FREE to everyone! As a fundraiser, tickets will be sold for a 50/50 drawing and several raffle prizes. Come hungry, various concession items will be served: hamburgers, hot dogs, BBQ sandwiches and homemade desserts of all kinds! Bring a chair, bring your appetite and by all means, bring a friend. In appreciation for participation, a commemorative dash plaque will be given to the first 100 classic cars present at the event.Pre-registration is not required, but is appreciated. Country Comfort Homes, Inc. at Southern Ideal Home Show Country Comfort Homes, Inc. of Sparta, N. C. will be introducing a new roof system to this area at the Southern Ideal Home Show. The roof has been around for fifty years but new to our area. The Southern Ideal Home Show is held in Charlotte, NC on August  23rd through the 25th. Through years of commercial and industrial construction and during the years since Country Comfort Homes was formed in 1990, owner Pete Pyles has never been so excited about any product as the aluminum shake shingle roof.
