Come to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play on Tuesday beginning at 7p and Saturday at 7p and the first Friday of every month at 7p. Admission $4. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6p. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473
GREAT ACTIVITIES TO DO ANYTIME
Barns and other structures throughout Alleghany County are adorned with normal squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany countryside are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.

More Night Life for Sparta
Dance the night away
at Caribe Cuban Cafe
Starting Friday, April 5, Caribe Cuban Cafe, 433 North Main St., will be offering dancing from 10p-2a on Friday and Saturday nights featuring contemporary music to appeal to youth. The tables will be moved and the lower floor willl be used for dancing. Appetizers will be sold, but not meals. Must be 16 or older. Admission is $10 but ladies admitted free before 11a. So get out those dancing shoes, call you best beau and make plans to shake it up! 336-372-2400

Community Lenten Services & Lunch
Community Lenten Service, will be offered the following Wednesdays at 12n at Sparta United Methodist Church. The 30-minute service will be followed by a light lunch. There is no charge for lunch but donations are accepted and go to the ministries of the Ministerium, the county ministerial association.

Spring Road Trip Raffle:
Maybe the Cure for Cabin Fever
The Partnership for Children is holding a Spring Road Trip Raffle with prizes to get you out of the house and on the road. The winner receives: 4 tickets to the NC Zoo in Asheboro, NC; Family Snack Pack (prepacked goodies to munch on throughout your day); and a $50 GAS CARD to get you there! Tickets can be purchased at the DANA Services office, 994 North Main, or through any DANA employee for $1 each or 6 for $5. But you better hurry, the drawing is March 27. 336-372-3462.

Easter Egg Hunt for Shoppers
 The Sparta Revitalization Committee is sponsoring an Easter Egg Hunt for local shoppers. While shopping, dining or visiting our fair town between March 18-29, look for one of three glitter eggs on a stick. Get FREE help with tax preparation
The Voluntary Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program at the Alleghany County Library is providing FREE tax preparation assistance through April 10 (with the exception of the week of March 25). If you are interested in getting free help for your taxes, please contact the library at dbrewer@nwrl.org or at 336-372-5573 to set up an appointment or for more information. Tax help is available on Wednesdays and Fridays from 10a til 4p.

Alleghany's Farmland Protection Plan: is the subject of a breakfast meeting at the Glace Creek VFD. This is the last of three countywide meetings. Those who cannot attend are encouraged to contact the Soil and Water office (336-372-7777) and complete a survey. Please RSVP by Tuesday, March 19, to let organizers know how many to make breakfast for.

Meeting of Minds performed: The Alleghany Community Theatre production that brings together famous people of history returns for three performaces at the Piney Creek Meeting House, Senior Center and Library.
