Come to listen or to dance to the blue grass and old time musicians who play on Tuesday beginning at 7p and Saturday at 7p and the first Friday of every month at 7p. Admission $4. The Jubilee is located on North Main Street, across from the Courthouse.

Local blue grass and old time musicians jam each Monday, 2 blocks north of the Courthouse at the Crouse House in Crouse Park, beginning at 6p. Come and play or just listen. No charge, but a donation is appreciated. 336-372-5473
GREAT ACTIVITIES TO DO ANYTIME
Barns and other structures throughout Alleghany County are adorned with normal squares illustrating quilt patterns and add interest to a driving tour of the countryside. Drop by Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center for a brochure. We are in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.
Brochures for three driving loops of the Alleghany countryside are available at the Alleghany Chamber of Commerce and Visitors' Center. Each loop is about a leisurely hour's drive and includes information on historic points along the way. The Chamber office is in the rock building with the green awning (58 South Main Street, Sparta). Our foyer is always open and a brochure is always available.

Documentary Editor to speak at Rotary
Award-winning documentary editor, Bobby Jones, will speak at Alleghany Rotary, this Thursday. Jones has worked on projects for National Geographic, the History Channel, ESPN, to name a few. He has a home in Alleghany County and is an avid bee keeper. Rotary meets in the Alleghany Memorial Hospital Solarium at 7a each Thursday for breakfast and a program. Visitors welcome. Witness First Polar Plunge!
 Participants are praying for a warm winter's day Saturday, March 9, as Alleghany Special Olympics kicks off its first Polar Plunge. NC House Member at GOP Meeting
 The Alleghany County Republican Party will hold the 2013 County Convention and dinner on March 7, 6p, at Alexander Hall (formerly Silver Dollar Music Park). The program includes a presentation by NC Senator Dan Soucek who will provide an update on legislative activities in the North Carolina Senate. Witness Woodcock Sky Dance
Join the Park Ranger at 5:15p Saturday in witnessing the spectacular sky-dance as the male woodcock tries to impress the on-looking females in the romantic light of dusk. Meet at New River State Park's visitor center located at the US 221 Access for a short slide presentation followed by the woodcock's show, nature permitting.  The Chamber of Commerce is holding a St. Paddy's Bowl-A-Thon to raise money for Mountain Heritage Entertainment, Saturday, March 16, at River Rock Grill and Family Fun Center beginning at 9a, Saturday. Community Lenten Services & Lunch
Community Lenten Service, will be offered the following Wednesdays at 12n at Sparta United Methodist Church. The 30-minute service will be followed by a light lunch. There is no charge for lunch but donations are accepted and go to the ministries of the Ministerium, the county ministerial association.

Caregiver Support Group Launched
Help us launch this Caregiver Support Group. Our first meeting will be at 5p on Wednesday, March 13, at Forest Ridge Assisted Living at 151 Village Park Drive, West Jefferson, NC.
