Who wants to take the Polar Plunge?
Alleghany Special Olympics is sponsoring a Polar Plunge and costume contest Saturday, March 9, at Lake Louise at the Roaring Gap Club. Registration is at 1p, costume contest at 1:30p and participants take the plunge at 2p. This is a fun raiser(and a fund raiser), so individuals are asked to raise at least $50 in order to participate. I know, you're thinking, "Who would pay $50 to go jump in the lake in March?" Well, there is no requirement for how much you have to plunge in the water. If you chose to go, we know that brave you would probably go for full immersion, but if you just stuck you toe in the water, no one is going to ask for more. But there is a more interesting scenario. Isn't there a friend or relative that you'd be willing to contribute $50 to challenge him or her to the plunge? How about your spouse? And it is for a good cause. Need I suggest more or can you let your mind run with it. Download their brochure for details. If you don't want to take the plunge but would like to contribute, Bob and Ashley will be plunging. Come by the office to help pay their way.

She's launching a new project, Tasting North Carolina, as a way to highlight the diversity and complexity of North Carolina's food culture.
