PRESIDENT'S ANNUAL REPORT
2015 - 2016
On behalf of the Board of Directors, it is my pleasure to present this Annual Report of IMCA to our membership.
What started as a group of internationally minded men interested in coming together and sharing experiences, has generated into a comprehensive club for men and their spouses. Yes, we have "men only" activities such as the Book Club, Tuesday Club and Stammtisch, but also events for our main supporters-our spouses. More of our spouses are taking advantage of our excellent luncheon speakers, and participating in the Nature Club, Dine-outs, beach picnic, theater, and other events.
It is also noteworthy to mention our own supporting groups such as the Ambassador Program, Sunshine Committee, and Social Activities Committee which consists of chairmen of the various events. It is the Program Committee that searches, and provides speakers for our luncheons. In addition, we receive outside recognition and recruitment through our publicity efforts.
"Building Bridges of Friendship" is our theme which is manifested within our activities. We meet new people and make new friends. Many of us belong to other organizations which also becomes a force multiplier enhancing our value to one another.
The valuable background of our members comes into play during the various committee meetings. Our board meetings are open to our members by simply informing the president so that sufficient space is available. At our March luncheon we will have a brief "Report to the Members", presentation of names from the Nominating Committee for board directors, and the election of officers to the board. Those elected, take office beginning May 1st.
Communication is the key for informing our members; not only about what we do, but as a two-way process of helping the club grow. This is done through our newsletters, flyers, surveys, publicity, and website. By going to our website, we not only view upcoming events, but are also able to register and pay for these events. In addition, we have a Membership Roster containing background information, Archives, By-laws, Quarterly Financial Statements, Annual Financial Review, Administrative Calendar, Directory, and even a Procedures & Operations Manual. It is also possible to
view a Retiral Members Roster. In addition, a Directory and a Speaker & Events Calendar is also published.
We are continuously "tweaking" our website which at times becomes frustrating to our members. As one problem gets fixed, others seem to rise. We are trying to make it easy-to-use and error-free from our own mistakes, such as paying twice for an event that we forgot we previously paid. Another added feature is giving the names of the members who registered for an event at the bottom of the event screen.
Whenever the need arises, we conduct a strategic planning meeting with our board members and a sampling from our membership. We have implemented some things from our meeting last year, and still have some actions open such as the establishment of a club that is country-specific in its monthly meetings. The chairmanship for this club is currently open as well as others that our members wish to sponsor. We will bring up new ideas at our board meetings as well as welcome volunteers for our present and new activities.
Attendance at the Tuesday Club has experienced an explosion. Plans are being made now to continue it during the summer.
Our club is financially secure. Our events are well-planned so there is a minimum profit/loss. There will be no increase in dues or fees for the coming year. Our annual financial review is expected in May. See the Membership Only section of the website for complete information on our financial status.
Leadership takes time, energy, and consciousness of spirit. If you like a particular aspect of the club, you are encouraged to participate in a leadership role since there is a need for you to help us move forward. Our board members and chairmen are always looking for someone to volunteer his time, energy, and consciousness of spirit.
We have an excellent club, in excellent condition, due to our outstanding board members, chairmen, committee members, and general membership.
Thank you for your support.
Jim McDonald President
