" CHINA'S MILITARY SPACE PROGRAM- A THREAT TO THE U.S.?

MARCH 9, 2015

Douglas MacKinnon

China has invested huge sums into their space program including the much publicized manned segment.  The Pentagon-May 2013: China is pursuing a variety of air, sea, undersea, space, counter space and information warfare systems, as well as operational concepts, moving toward an array of overlapping, multilayered offensive capabilities extending from China's coast into the western Pacific.  Should we be concerned?

Douglas MacKinnon is a former white house and pentagon official. At the white house, Mr. MacKinnon served as a writer for both Presidents Reagan and George H. W. Bush. Later the Bush white house asked Mr. MacKinnon to transition to the pentagon where he could more effectively advocate for its positions as special assistant for policy and communication. This took advantage of the extensive knowledge he had gained researching for his best selling non-fiction book "Footprints" which was syndicated in over 40 countries and serialized in over 150 papers in the United States. It was also used as research for the movie "Apollo 13".
While at the pentagon, MacKinnon had above top secret clearence and worked on a number of classified programs.  He worked on issues directly related to our manned, unmanned and ballistic missile space programs.  While working as a consultant to NASA and the space shuttle team,  MacKinnon became espeially concerned about the growing threat posed to the United States' assets in low and geosynchronous orbit over the People's Republic of China's military run human space program.  He will outline why no nation on earth is more dependent upon its satellites in orbit by the United States, and what steps the Chinese are now "war gaming" to take out those assets should the time come.
Today, among other things he is a syndicated columnist and political commentator.  He has authored over 700 columns for newspapers including NY Times, Washington Post, LA Times, Boston Herald, Chicago Tribune and USA Today.  He has done and does political commentary for major news networks, including ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN. MSNBC and Fox news.
