Thought for the Day

"There is an Indian belief that everyone is a house of four rooms: a physical, a mental, an emotional, and a spiritual room. Most of us tend to live in one room most of the time, but unless we go into every room every day, even if only to keep it aired, we are not complete."

Rumer Godden -- House of Four Rooms

Notice to Members

At the January IMCA Board meeting Mr. Harold Drake was appointed Director-at-Large with focus on IMCA marketing and publicity.

We want to take advantage of the occasion of our 20 year celebration to achieve greater exposure via various news outlets into the communities in Southwest Florida.

Greetings!
PRESIDENT'S LETTER

I hope you had a wonderful holiday season and I wish you a very happy and above all a healthy 2013.

The second part of our season programs are off to a great start.

Ms. Mimi Gregory, our January Luncheon speaker, stepped in at the last moment to cover for our scheduled speaker, who had to cancel for unforeseen circumstances, and gave us an excellent presentation on Afghanistan.  She touched on the precarious situation the US and NATO forces find themselves in and the many "mine fields" they are navigating to bring the conflict to a reasonable conclusion.  We all walked away with a much better understanding of the geographical, political, economic and cultural landscape of this century's old country and the decades old conflicts.

We expect our February Luncheon to be a sell out event so please reserve early.

Former US Assistant Secretary of State and Assistant Secretary of Defense, Mr. Powell Moore, will be our speaker.  He will share his insights and thoughts on "US GOVERNMENT - A NEW BEGINNING EVERY FOUR YEARS."

Mr. Moore has been a close observer of every presidential transition since president Nixon replaced President Johnson in 1969, when he was an aide to a US Senator deeply involved in the cabinet confirmation process.  He held key positions on President Nixon's inauguration committee in 1973 and on President Reagan's transition team in 1981.  He was an advisor to the transition team of G.H.W. Bush in 1989 and was one of the first appointees on President G.W. Bush Pentagon Team in 2001.  This is a very timely subject as we are currently going through another presidential transition.

2013 marks the start of our 20th year and our Anniversary Committee is busy putting the final touches on our Anniversary Celebration Reception to be held at the Vineyard Country Club on March 22 from 5:30 to 8pm.  Please mark this date on your calendar so you will not miss this great social and celebratory event.

Please check our Speakers Pamphlet which shows the exciting upcoming speakers and all the wonderful social events.  We hope you will participate in as many luncheons as possible.
