Greetings!
This month, we hope you enjoy and explore all that the CRC has to offer. We will be sending out monthly updates for users in this new and improved format. Please don't hesitate to contact us with any questions or to offer suggestions or feedback. |
| New Lesson: A Great Place to Sprout | In this inquiry-based lesson, learners explore different soil types through several hands on activities. Learners also perform an inquiry-based science lab where they examine how different soil types affect the growth of green bean seedlings. Learners then use graphing techniques to analyze data. This lesson also includes an instructor's guide that highlights suggestions to scaffold levels of inquiry into any science experiment.
To find the instructor and learner packet for this lesson, login to the CRC and select the "Build Your Own Curriculum" database tab. Scroll down to enter the lesson title into the Keyword search box.

New Resource for Instructional Design: Comprehensive Unit Evaluation Rubric
| Last month we announced a one-page checklist to evaluation a unit. This month, we're pleased to introduce a much more detailed tool, the Comprehensive Unit Evaluation Rubric. This editable document provides multiple tools to evaluate a course or unit for any age range. The multi-page document includes detailed criteria to evaluate learning outcomes, content and pedagogy, assessment, and other aspects of instructional design. Recommended for use in professional development programs or teacher education courses.
Find this in the CRC under "Professional Development Tools", then scroll down to the section with instructional design tools. |

Hidden Treasure: Global Sustainability Trends Lesson (Grades 9+)
| From time to time we like to highlight CRC resources that you may have missed. This month, we'd like to bring your attention to "Where are we headed?", a dynamic lesson on global trends suitable for grades 9 and up. In the lesson, learners evaluate global trends on health, the environment and related topics, and then assess if the trends are moving the world/community towards sustainability. Learners also diagram connections among economic, environmental, and equity issues and conduct research on the UN Millennium Development Goals.
Find this in the "Build Your Own Curriculum" database section of the CRC by typing the lesson title in the keyword search box at the bottom of the page. It is also embedded in the Ecological Footprint units for 9-12 and Higher Ed. |
