Hello from Your Green Team,

If the batteries go to the landfill, they can leak and cause serious problems including pollution and health hazards.

By recycling the batteries, you can keep heavy metals out of landfills. These metals as well as some plastics can then be recycled and used to make new batteries.
So how do you recycle batteries at Penn State?

1.      The first action is to request a battery bucket. You can do so by submitting a Special Recycling Request form online.

2.      Once you have your bucket, place it near your mbius sorting station for people to deposit their used batteries.

3.      When the bucket is full, return to the Special Recycling Request form online to schedule a pick up for your bucket. An empty bucket will be left in its place.
