REMINDER REGARDING THE
CALL FOR NOMINATIONS

(Recommendations for Nominees for Florida PTA Officers and Committee Chairs)

The election for Florida PTA officers will be held at the annual Florida PTA Leadership/Convention in July 2014. The officers of the Florida PTA shall consist of the following:

          • President*
          • President Elect
          • Vice President for Leadership Development
          • Vice President for Regions and Councils
          • Vice President for Membership Development
          • Vice President for Educational Development
          • Secretary  
          • Treasurer

* Please note that nominations are not in order for the "president" position, as the current president elect automatically becomes president.

 

Recommendations may be submitted to the chair of the Nominating Committee by local units, county councils and individual members of the state board of directors. In order to be considered, recommendations must be received in the state office on or before March 28, 2014, at 5:00 P.M. Eastern time.

 

Please refer to the Florida PTA Letter of Intent for the officer job descriptions (found below) and online at www.floridapta.org, for the committee chair job descriptions. In addition, nominees should possess these qualifications:

 

  1. A knowledge of and belief in the PTA Purposes, principles and procedures.
  2. An enthusiasm for promoting PTA.
  3. Special abilities and adaptability for parent-teacher work...particularly the ability to think and act on the state level.
  4. A commitment/ability to attend required meetings of the Florida PTA Board of Directors.

NOMINATIONS MUST BE MADE WITH THE PERSON'S CONSENT AND THE PERSON MUST BE A CURRENT FLORIDA PTA MEMBER.

 

Recommendations for nominees shall be handled in the following manner:

 

  1. Place recommendation, including qualifications and telephone number in an envelope and seal the envelope.
  2. Indicate on the envelope which officer or chair position for which this person has been recommended. 
  3. Enclose the sealed envelope inside a separate envelope, indicating the name of the local unit, council or individual state board member in the upper left hand corner, and send it to: Mindy Gould, FPTA Nominating Committee Chair, 1747 Orlando Central Parkway Orlando FL 32809 or email to: nominate@floridapta.org.

 

The Nominating Committee is also required to make recommendations for the following chairs of standing committees:

Although these committee positions are created by the board of directors, the Nominating Committee would like to know of anyone who would like to be considered. Please follow the same procedures listed above to submit your recommendation and make sure it is received in the state office on or before March 28, 2014
