Special Sectional Event for Players with 0-5 Masterpoints!
April's Unit 141 Sectional at Bala Golf Club will feature special events for new players with just 0-5 masterpoints. While the sectional with have its usual brackets of open pairs for I/N players who are non-life masters with fewer than 500 masterpoints (on Friday and Saturday mornings and afternoons), there will also be special brackets on Friday and Saturday mornings only for players with 0-5 masterpoints. These specially-sanctioned brackets will award masterpoints! ACBL membership, however, is not required and anyone is welcome and invited to play. Non-ACBL members can participate at no additional charge.
If you are one of the nearly 1,000 ACBL members in Unit 141 with fewer than five masterpoints, know someone who is, or are a social bridge player with an interest in experiencing tournament or duplicate bridge, try out this special event designed just for newer players.

Table Tips: Say Hello!
Bridge at the table can feel like a life-and-death, highly competitive sport where each board is a do-or-die chance to crush your latest opponent. We're not saying those feelings are bad, unwarranted, or even manageable, but keeping the game civil is really important to its long-term health and growth.
How can you help simmer down the tension at the table? Simple -- take two seconds to say hello to each pair of opponents before you attempt to dismember them! You might be busy post-morteming the last hand or trying hard not to criticize your partner, but it's worth the teeny effort to take a moment to greet the opponents.
It might not seem like a big deal, but it is. Newer players in particular appreciate it, but we all have a better experience when we take a moment to say 'hello' and treat each other with a little courtesy. Then, feel free to do what you will with the cards.
