I've always loved the soft, sensuous feel of rayon chenille.

But it wasn't until I began to weave with chenille that I really fell in love with it!

Did you know that the word "chenille" comes from the French meaning, "hairy caterpillar"?

If you look at a strand of chenille yarn you will see that it is in essence a very narrowly woven fabric. There are usually one or two vertical (warp) threads with horizontal (weft) threads that are cut on each selvedge, resulting in the "hairy caterpillar" look. This yarn construction is what gives a woven chenille fabric that velvety feel. Combine this with the 100% quality rayon threads used in making our Gypsy Chenille Solid and
