Cloud Talk

Guest writer, Lois Weaver shares her story of discovering the ZOOM loom and where it's led her in her creative life.

When I first discovered the ZOOM Loom, I was instantly addicted. I just couldn't stop making those squares.
Basically, I'm a hand weaver and designer, with a focus on apparel.  I create limited edition and one-of-a-kind items sold mostly in boutiques.     I'm also teaching a variety of weaving classes.

While traveling last summer, I packed my new ZOOM Loom.  I couldn't wait to try out the new portable loom from Schacht Spindle Company.  But I was pretty sure I'd get bored making little squares.  Well, not at all!  I was soon addicted to making lots of squares...in the car, visiting friends, and even at a party with live entertainment!

Since I have a short attention span, yarns with long color repeats keep me from getting bored while making the same squares over and over. I had already fallen in love with Tempo yarn by Filatura De Crosa and was just waiting for the perfect opportunity to design with it.

This vest kit came about during a hot summer day. I love to wear tanks, but I like to wear a little something extra over them and this worked out perfectly. The texture in this yarn and the colors as they unfold as you weave your squares will have you obsessively weaving just to see what's next.
