Cloud Talk

Jodi

Working  at Cotton Clouds has lots of perks.
One of them is getting my hands on all the gorgeous yarns and colors to design rigid heddle fabrics.

You'll find many of my designs available as kits at  Jodi's Rigid Heddle Kits.

I'm so excited to be designing the next Rigid Heddle Kit-of-the Month Club for Cotton Clouds, which will be available this Fall. Watch for notice in this e-newsletter!
I admit I am addicted to weaving.  Rigid heddle weaving is not just a hobby, it's become an addiction!
Once I  started weaving, my  creativity began to bloom with so many design possibilities right at my fingertips.  While I was learning one technique, I was already planning the next project.
Warping a rigid heddle loom takes so little time.  My favorite way of warping is the direct warping method shown in Slots & Holes DVD.  This warping method allows me to be ready to weave in less than an hour or two.
Once I mastered the basics of weaving on my loom, I began to explore the interplay of color, texture and design in my weavings. The Weaver's Idea Book by Jane Patrick has inspired me to explore so many new techniques--stripes, plaid, checks, houndstooth, log cabin and waffle weave are some of the many designs that are available now!
You can't imagine how excited I was when I realized that waffle weave can be achieved on a 2 shaft loom, using plain weave and just one pick-up stick. (See my blog for details on weaving my Waffle Weave Towels)
I love The Weaver's Idea Book which is now available as an easy download e-book.I highly recommend it to any weaver, like me, who wants to learn more.
Weaving towels has to be my #1 favorite rigid heddle project. Cotton Clouds' 100% unmercerized cotton, Aurora Earth 8/2  is the perfect yarn for super absorbent towels!
Towels are perfect for gift giving too.  Your friends and family will cherish these homemade gifts that you can easily weave in a weekend.
Our Log Cabin Towels and Houndstooth Plaid Towels are two of my newest towel kits. These are very easy to weave on any rigid heddle loom.
So, don't be intimidated, just have fun weaving!  Once you start, there will be no stopping!  The many possibilities are waiting for you! Check out all our Rigid Heddle Kits; I'm sure you'll find one just right for you!
We'd love to hear from you. Send your comments, questions, photos of finished projects or suggestions to me at info@cottonclouds.com.
     Happy weaving!
