Curbside Recycling Starts In November

Curbside recycling will begin for Fort St. John residents on the week of November 10th.

All residents who currently receive curbside garbage pick-up will be receiving a new blue recycling bin. That bin can go to the curb the week of November 10th.

Garbage will be picked up the following week.

This means that you will have garbage pick-up one week and recycling pick-up the next week. Your recycle cart will be bigger than your garbage cart so there will be plenty of room.

Residents are reminded to NOT put the blue bins out for pick up before November 10th as they will not be picked up and they may get in the way of normal garbage collection.

Don't panic! Recycling is easy and it will drastically reduce the garbage you send to the landfill. You don't need to worry about an overflowing garbage cart as you won't have that much garbage anymore.

Items to be collected in the blue bins includes: paper, cardboard, tin cans, aerosol cans (not paint aerosol), plastics #1-7 and plastic grocery bags. A full list of the items to be collected will be posted on the City website this week and information on recycling will be mailed out to all households in the coming weeks. The City website and app both have a Waste Wizard that residents can use to look up items to learn whether they are for disposal or recycling.

Watch for some recycling information to come out soon on the City website, Facebook, and Twitter.
