Home Alone Program
This program, developed by the Canada Safety Council, is designed to provide children 9 - 11 years of age with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. The program focuses on group discussions, problem solving, role-playing, and instructor-led demonstrations.
The Student Reference Book is designed to allow the program participants to actively participate in class assignments. It provides a review of the program material, as well as additional information that will be of value to the students.
Upon the completion of this program, each child will to able to:
- Establish a daily routine
- Manage their time more efficiently
- Identify what responsibilities they have while being home alone
- Demonstrate what to do in case of an emergency and how and when to call 911
- Understand the basics of first aid procedures

Make a Splash at the Pool
Bronze Medallion/Bronze Cross
This is a combined course that will cover both the Bronze Medallion and Bronze Cross courses. Bronze Cross is also worth 2 Grade 11 High School Credits.
Bronze Medallion teaches an understanding of the lifesaving principles embodied in the four components of water rescue education - judgement, knowledge, skill and fitness. Rescuers learn self-rescue techniques, defense and release methods, and tows and carries in preparation for challenging rescues involving conscious and unconscious victims of various types, including spinal injuries and circulatory emergencies. Lifesavers develop stroke efficiency and endurance in a timed swim. Bronze Medallion includes the CPR-A certification.
Bronze Cross is designed for lifesavers who want the challenge of more advanced training including an introduction to safety supervision in aquatic facilities. Candidates develop proficiency at performing patient assessments, managing aquatic spinal injuries, and preventing the loss of life in a variety of aquatic emergencies, while developing stroke endurance and fitness training Bronze Cross includes the CPR-C certification and is one of the pre-requisite awards for all advanced Lifeguarding and Leadership training programs.
Prerequisites: Must have Level 10 swim skills or equivalent. You must be 13 years older or completed Bronze Star - MUST HAVE PROOF OF AGE! Please bring in a government issued form of ID. Failure to do so will result in access to the class being denied.
Cost: $385.60 + tax

Family Swim Night
Hey moms & dads bring your little ones in for some fun & games in the leisure pool on
Monday, January 5 from 6-7pm. Regular Admission applies.
Family Night- January 15 - Adults swim for free!
It's Family Night at the North Peace Leisure Pool! Partnered with Family Friendly Community - Families in Motion is hosting a Family Night at the NPLP on Thursday, January 15th from 6:00pm - 7:30pm. Families are encouraged to attend and adults swimming with their children (during this time) will be admitted for FREE!
This is a great chance to come down to the pool (and out of the cold), play games, and spend time with your young ones. Remember, children 5 and under are free as well, and youth ages 3 - 18 are only $3 each!

Junior Lifeguard Club
Kids learn attitudes and skills that could one day save a life their life, or someone elses. The Junior Lifeguard Club (JLC) is designed to let kids participate in activities similar to those of real lifeguards in a safe, fun and controlled setting. But just as important, kids experience teamwork and a sense of belonging. They become part of a club, the Junior Lifeguard Club.

Prerequisites: Able to swim 1 length of the pool and tread water for 1 minute

Winter Red Cross Lesson Registration
The first set of winter lessons will start on January 5. Registration will open on Friday, November 28. For this session we are trying out a new lesson schedule. In an effort to help instructors transition from one class to another we have made some alterations to the start time of classes.

Pomeroy Sport Centre
Teen/Tween Glow Skate
Looking for some fun on a Saturday night? Grab your friends and come to the Pomeroy Sport Centre on Saturday, January 17 from 7:30pm to 9:30pm for the first Teen/Tween skate on the Oval of 2015!
With admission, participants will receive glow sticks, free snacks, and access to other on ice activities!
