Home Alone Program

This program, developed by the Canada Safety Council, is designed to provide children 9 - 11 years of age with the necessary skills and knowledge to be safe and responsible when home alone for short periods of time. It will help them understand how to prevent problems, handle real-life situations, and keep them safe and constructively occupied. The program focuses on group discussions, problem solving, role-playing, and instructor-led demonstrations.

 

The Student Reference Book is designed to allow the program participants to actively participate in class assignments. It provides a review of the program material, as well as additional information that will be of value to the students.

Upon the completion of this program, each child will to able to:

  • Establish a daily routine
  • Manage their time more efficiently
  • Identify what responsibilities they have while being home alone
  • Demonstrate what to do in case of an emergency and how and when to call 911
  • Understand the basics of first aid procedures

National Lifeguard Service (NLS)

The National Lifeguard Service (NLS) Pool Option is designed to develop the fundamental values, judgment, knowledge, skills and fitness required by lifeguards.  The NLS course emphasizes the lifeguarding skills, principles, practices and the decision making processes which will assist the lifeguard to provide effective safety supervision in swimming pool environments.  Call the North Peace Leisure Pool at 250-787-8178 for more information or to register

 

Pre-Requisites: Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care certification, as well as Bronze Cross certification, MUST 16 years of age by last day of the course.

Toonie Swim for Tweens & Teens

Hey it's another toonie night just for the tweens & teens!  Come on in out of the cold for a swim & a hot chocolate

Monday, December 22,  Admission is just $2.00.

 

Tweens 6-8 pm

Public Swim will be over at 6pm.  Please note ALL regular programing from 6 pm & on is CANCELLED. 

  

Winter Red Cross Lesson Registration

The first set of winter lessons will start on January 5.   Registration will open on Friday, November 28.  For this session we are trying out a new lesson schedule. In an effort to help instructors transition from one class to another we have made some alterations to the start time of classes.

 

The North Peace Leisure Pool appreciates the patience and understanding we receive from our swimmers while we work to improve our lessons. Registration for lessons can be done in-person, over-the-phone (250.787.8178), or online by clicking here.

 

 

 

Pomeroy Sport Centre

We are excited to announce that the Pomeroy Sport Centre will be the first stop on Canada Cup Speed Skating series. The competition will be taking place from November 28-30 and will feature men and women skaters racing various distances. We will be preparing the ice for this event from November 24-30, so our regular skating sessions will be cancelled on those days. Regular skating hours will resume on December, 1.  

 

Countdown to Christmas Skate
Join us for our Christmas themed skate! The Countdown to Christmas Skate will take place on December 20 from 5:30-7:30pm on the Oval. This is family themed skate but all ages are welcome to come and get into the Christmas spirit! There will be games, prizes, Christmas themed photo booth, and free hot chocolate!
