Aqua Zumba
Splash your way into shape with the invigorating, low-impact pool party!  Get wet. Get Down. Get Fit.  

Come try out Aqua Zumba - the pool party of Zumba.  Come check it out at the North Peace Leisure Pool on Sunday, December 22 from 12 - 1pm.

Christmas Stocking Stuffers 

Are you looking for unique items to fill the stockings?  Well, come check out the souvenir shop at the Visitor Centre.

 

There's something for everyone and you don't have to be a tourist to enjoy shopping here.  We have added the second cookie cutter to our wild animals theme - Bear.  If you didn't purchase the moose cutter last year - don't worry we have more in stock!

 

Our battery-free iPhone/iPod speakers are definitely a hit, as is the Wine-To-Go cups .  We also have a collection of Moose souvenirs. There is everything from a Moose Crossing sign  to light-up Moose pens and the famous Mail-A-Moose Postcard.

 

Fort St. John pet owners can find some unique and useful items as well. Choose from pet bandanas, collapsible travel dog bowls, tennis ball doggie bones and doggie pick-up baggies in a handy carry case.

Come check out our great selection today! Our hours are 9am to 8pm, Monday to Friday and 11am to 7pm weekends. Closed on Statutory Holidays.

Christmas Tree Collection

The City of Fort St. John would like to remind residents that Christmas trees will be collected on Saturday, January 4, 2014.

 

Local non-profit groups will come around and pick up the trees between 10:00am and 4:00pm.

 

Place your Christmas tree at the curb before 9:00am and please remember to remove all decorations, tinsel and plastic tree bags.

 

Residents may also drop off their Christmas trees off at the City's Snow Removal Dump Site at 79th Avenue and 93rd Street, beside DGS Astro Paving.

 

The Christmas trees that are dropped off and collected will be chipped and used along the trail systems.

High On Ice Winter Festival

The City of Fort St. John is pleased to host the 10th annual High on Ice Winter Festival which will take place February 7-10, 2014. High on Ice has become a signature event within our city and partners with many organizations to host all kind of events and activities. High on Ice promotes overall community involvement for all demographics including families, adults, children and seniors. It is an event residents can be proud of and enjoy and celebrate the winter season and outdoor activities.

Events during this winter festival include ice carving, snow sculpting, sleigh rides, children's activities in the park, ice fishing derby, Over the Line ball tournament, comedy shows, pond hockey tournament and so much more!

 

It is organized by a planning committee made up of various community organizations and interested citizens. If you would like to volunteer to help with the 2014 celebrations, please contact Leisure Services at info@fortstjohn.ca

 

 

Opportunity for Non-profit group to earn $

The City of Fort St. John is seeking 4 non-profit organizations to volunteer for the annual Christmas Tree Pick-Up. Residents are asked to leave their Christmas trees on their tree lawn on a designated date so that the volunteers may collect and deliver them to the City's Snow Removal Dump Site at 79th Avenue and 93rd Street. An honorarium of $500 will be paid to each group.

 

Eligibility: groups must be not for profit, must operate in Fort St. John, and must provide their own equipment such as trucks trailer, etc.

Preschool Play Day at the Pool
Come and join us for a Preschool Play Days at the North Peace Leisure Pool. Every second Thursday of each month, parents and children are invited to come down and take part in fun activities and games geared towards children 5 & under. This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to the world of water while having some fun and meeting new people.

Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt

NEW for 2013~2014 will be the first Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt organized by the City of Fort St. John.  This fun, family-friendly event is sponsored locally by Unforgettable Memories

 

Through this popular FREE event, our community is given the opportunity to showcase their talent while exposing the beauty of our City as well as the North Peace region. The event encourages participants to venture out into the City and area as well as promotes active living in Fort St John.  

  • Event dates:  November 15, 2013 - February 10, 2014
  • The contest is FREE
  • Participate in the Family or General Category
  • You may register at any time during the contest
  • Register in-person at the Visitor Centre

Prizes will be awarded for the following (please see Rules & Regulations for eligibility):

  • Family Category - one draw for an Inflatable Toys Pitch Party at the Kids Arena Fieldhouse (value $250)
  • General Category - one draw for $250 VISA gift card
  • Grand Prize - one winner will receive a PROmaster XC525 blue tripod and a LowePro Flipside 300 Camera Bag donated by Unforgettable Memories foto Source
