Babysitting Course
This two-day course was designed to give young people the necessary tools to be responsible babysitters; keeping children in their care safe and happy. Topics covered include learning about the different developmental stages of children and the skills required to care for them: infants, toddlers, preschoolers and school age children. The babysitter will learn techniques for behavioral problems as well as how to handle emergencies and understand basic first aid skills. They will also complete the program with new ideas of how to entertain the children in their care with games and fun activities.
Pre-Requsites: Ages 11 - 15 years Cost: $94.64 + tax Dates: November 23 & 24 Time: 9:00am - 1:00pm (must attend both days for certificate)

Family Night at the Pool
Are you and your family looking for some new fun activities? Look no more! The North Peace Leisure Pool is hosting family events! We have lots of fun activities planned and cool prizes to give away!

National Lifeguard Service (NLS)
The National Lifeguard ServiceŽ (NLS) Instructor course prepares candidates to teach and evaluate NLS Pool. Instructor candidates learn specific strategies designed to train lifeguards in advanced rescue techniques, public relations issues and first aid, as well as how to present material that will prepare lifeguards for any major aspect of supervising the public in an aquatic setting.
Pre-Requisites: Standard First Aid or Aquatic Emergency Care certification Bronze Cross certification & 16 years of age by last day of course.
Date: November 14, 15, 16, 28, 29, 30
Time: 5:00pm - 9:00pm and 10:00am - 7:00pm

Opportunity for Non-profit group to earn $
The City of Fort St. John is seeking 4 non-profit organizations to volunteer for the annual Christmas Tree Pick-Up. Residents are asked to leave their Christmas trees on their tree lawn on a designated date so that the volunteers may collect and deliver them to the City's Snow Removal Dump Site at 79th Avenue and 93rd Street. An honorarium of $500 will be paid to each group.
Eligibility: groups must be not for profit, must operate in Fort St. John, and must provide their own equipment such as trucks trailer, etc.

Preschool Play Day at the Pool
Come and join us for a Preschool Play Days at the North Peace Leisure Pool. Every second Thursday of each month, parents and children are invited to come down and take part in fun activities and games geared towards children 5 & under. This is a great opportunity to introduce your children to the world of water while having some fun and meeting new people.

It's almost here - the annual Santa Parade and Festivities in the Park! Come out and get into the Christmas spirit. NEW for 2013 - Christmas Crafts prior to the parade.

We are now located in the Pomeroy Sport Centre and loving our new home! Come see for yourself and while you are here, do some shopping!

Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt
NEW for 2013~2014 will be the first Winter Photo Scavenger Hunt organized by the City of Fort St. John. This fun, family-friendly event is sponsored locally by Unforgettable Memories.
Through this popular event, our community is given the opportunity to showcase their talent while exposing the beauty of our City as well as the North Peace region. The event encourages participants to venture out into the City and area as well as promotes active living in Fort St John.
~ Event dates: November 15, 2013 - February 10, 2014 ~ Registration begins November 8, 2013 ~ Sign-up by November 15 for early registration points ~ Scavenger Hunt list will be available beginning November 15 at the Visitor Centre or via email
