March is here and I say march on!

I find March to be the perfect month to delve deeper into creative projects and that is just what we're doing here at Art & Soul Acting.

The Drop-In Acting Class is sizzling with creativity each Wednesday night. And I'm very pleased to announce the playwright for the next Book Club for Actors.

And on Saturday, March 26, I will be leading a super-charged 1-day acting intensive, Mastering the Art of the Cold Reading, the Audition & the Interview. Need some refinement in those areas? Then this one is definitely for you. And to make it even sweeter, you'll have the opportunity to put all you learn into practice at the end of the day for legit agent, Maegan Mishico, from bloc.

And finally, on a personal creative note, I will be back in rehearsal this month for my solo show, Rhonda Badonda: the Adventures of a Girl with a Pain in Her Brain. Want a sneak peek? We just finished our 90-second trailer!

ACTING INTENSIVE - 3/26
Grow
What does it take to create a successful cold reading and interview? Put the pieces together during this dynamic acting/business-of-acting intensive and complete the day by doing it all in front of an agent. Magic!

Mastering the Art of the Cold Reading,
the Audition & the Interview

Co-Led by Rhonda S. Musak & Bobby Holder

Both Bobby and Rhonda have seen it again and again: highly skilled actors doing themselves in in the audition room by making a series of small technical errors. It is heartbreaking! Sometimes, the mistakes are in the cold reading and sometimes the mistakes are in the interview and, more often than not, they are in both.

But this doesn't have to be the case. Technical errors can be easily corrected. And once corrected the actor's game realigns to a much higher level allowing their acting work and their talent to shine through so they can book the role and do what they love most -- act.

IN THIS 1-DAY INTENSIVE:
* Rhonda is going to iron out your cold reading errors.
* Bobby is going to repair your interviewing mistakes.
* You are going to have the opportunity to practice what you learn.
* Then you're going to do it all...in front of an agent.

Before this workshop, I was consumed with worries about the present and regrets about the past.  Rhonda, helped me "let go" of all the negative uselessness of that thinking.  For the first time in many years, I am infatuated by the future, hopeful and planning, not mired in the past.

FEATURED ARTICLE #1:

Rhonda S. Musak & David Pixley in Ondine

The Actor Producer: Part I
by Rhonda S. Musak

Several years ago I was checking out at the Act One Bookstore in Chicago. Always an easy upsell, the clerk asked if I wanted to read some really amazing plays-of course I did!  I was then handed a small green and white volume of four plays by French playwright Jean Giraudoux.  I said thank you, purchased my items and went on my merry way.  Had I known how my life would be changed by that teeny tiny miniscule would-never-have-made-the-nighttime news transaction, I might've broken into a cosmic shuffle!

I fell in love with all of the plays in the collection, but it was Ondine that became my obsession...

FEATURED ARTICLE #2:

Tim Spanjer & Tiffany Hodges in Ondine

The Actor Producer: Part II
by Rhonda S. Musak

In Part I of The Actor Producer, I discussed what inspired me step out of the audition line and ultimately cast myself in the title role of my dream project Ondine. In Part II, I have promised to start looking at concrete ways that an actor can accomplish stepping into the role of actor producer...
