The clocks have changed, we've had our Thanksgiving dinner and there will soon be a real chill in the air. December...you are here already???

Well, I welcome you with open arms because your chilly end-of-year arrival also signals that it's time for:

Leap with Passion

Yes! Leap with Passion into 2016 marks this the 8th year of this annual workshop event.

The Leap with Passion workshop will be offered four times this year: twice in NYC, once in Chicago and once Online/Live.

This will be my third year offering the Online/Live workshop and past attendees have said it is just as powerful as in-person workshop. Also, a great gift idea for those who may not be in the NYC or Chicago area! Please see below for complete details and registration info.

In other studio news, we have just one more Drop-In Acting Class before our holiday break: Wednesday, December 9. Join us! Class will resume in 2016 on Wednesday, February 3 at 6 PM.

And after Saturday's final Book Club for Actors meeting of 2015, we be on on holiday break until early January. More details below.

What's Going on with Acting Class? 
GrowFor an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration.  It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.

DROP-IN ACTING CLASS
Ground your acting technique and inspire your soul by joining us for the weekly & ongoing Drop-In Acting Class - registration is on a class-by-class basis.

Schedule: Please join us for our last class of 2015 on Wednesday, December 9. We will then be on holiday/Leap with Passion break. Class will resume on Wednesday, February 3, 2016. We will also be back to our 6 PM start time rather than the current 6:30 PM.

CORE ACTING TECHNIQUE - 10-Week Class
The next 10-week Core Acting Technique class will begin on Monday, March 7, 2016.

Drop-In Acting Class - weekly & ongoing
The Drop-In Acting Class at Art & Soul Acting is designed for the acting student who wishes to receive acting coaching on the material of their choice in a group setting. Registration is on a class-by-class basis.

Class Structure
Each class will begin with a brief warm-up so students can approach their work centered and focused. Actors will then work on their material of choice in an individual work slot.

Work Slot Material Options
Actors may choose to work on any of the following: 
  • Monologues
  • Cold Readings for Film or Stage
  • Audition Process & Technique
  • Preparation for an Upcoming Audition
  • Exercises to Stretch the Actors Instrument
  • Scene Study
  • Preparation for an Upcoming Role
  • Acting Technique Breakdown for an Acting Issue
  • Get Unstuck Coaching

What's Up with the Book Club for Actors?

Remaining reading time: 2 days.
After our Saturday, December 5th Neil Simon meeting, the Book Club for Actors will be on holiday break. The next playwright will be announced at the beginning of January 2016 for book club meetings on Monday, February 29 and Saturday, March 5. Save the date!

On Monday, November 30 & Saturday, December 5 we will be discussing the plays of Neil Simon.

The Book Club for Actors is offered twice; please choose either meeting:

WHEN: Monday, November 30, 7-9 - East Village
                 OR
                 Saturday, December 5, 3-5 - East Village

WHERE: Location will be e-mailed with RSVP confirmation.

Please begin by reading Brighton Beach Memoirs and Biloxi Blues. After that, feel free to read any play from the Simon Reading List found on the Art & Soul Acting website. To ensure a robust conversation, participants are asked to read at least 4-5 plays.

Be ready to share what you have discovered about this amazing playwright so we can all learn and grow together.

Do you get near the end of the year wishing you had the time to slow down and take stock of your life in order to make changes that stick for the New Year? And then in a blur of the holiday rush, the next thing you know...it's February. 

That's exactly why the Leap with Passion Workshop was created! 

Having attended Rhonda's workshop both online and in person, I found them to be equally powerful. Rhonda's keen sense of timing and ability to focus my attention works its magic just as beautifully on screen as she does in person.

Get Rid of New Year's Resolutions that Don't Stick Once and For All

A handful years ago, in the middle of a sweltering July day, my sister turned to me and said, "My New Year's resolution is going really well." Caught completely off guard, I searched through my mind for a moment of time that was not humid and 97 degrees.

I finally recalled that yes, at the beginning of that year, I too had New Year's resolutions! And that's where our similarities ended: I had zero recollection of my "life-changing" resolutions that were designed as the New Year arrived with its fresh hope...
