Happy August...or I should say mid-August--I don't think I've ever put my newsletter out so late in the month.

The days are flying by here as I've just entered my final month of preparation for my solo show:

For those of you in the Vancouver BC area, tickets just went on sale for my shows, September 10-20: Vancouver Fringe Festival.

And for those of you in the NYC area, my October 7 show is now sold out and there are a few tickets left for my Thursday, October 29, 9 PM show: United Solo.

I head off to Vancouver on September 8 and will be Private Coaching in NYC and online via GoToMeeting until Monday, September 7.

Once I'm in Vancouver, I will be available for online or by phone coaching until September 21...unless you happen to be in Vancouver!

My Wednesday evening Drop-In Acting Class only has 2 more summer sessions: tonight and next Wednesday, August 19. Class resumes on Wednesday, October 14. Please see full details below.

And Book Club for Actors is currently on summer break. Stay tuned for a September announcement of our next playwright. I promise, it will be something lighter than our past couple of book clubs -- Ibsen & Wilson!

Wishing you blissful end-of-summer days!

#166: Coach Rhonda Musak Meets Coach Roz Williams

What's Going on with Acting Class?
GrowFor an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration.  It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.

The 10-week Core Acting Technique ended in June. The next session will be offered in February 2016. Dates will be announced in the fall.

Ground your acting technique and inspire your soul by joining us for the weekly & ongoing Drop-In Acting Class - registration is on a class-by-class basis.

UPCOMING SCHEDULE: Two more summer class sessions remain: 8/12 & 8/19. Class will resume in the fall starting on 10/14 and take place each week until 12/9.

The safe open environment that Rhonda creates allows you to open yourself up to parts of yourself that otherwise would take years to reach, if at all...

From the archives:

Often as an acting coach, I feel like my main job is as a "given-circumstances-pointer-outer". The value of thorough given circumstances work is like gold to the actor. Here's one of my favorite articles that I've written on the subject:

October 31, 2013
A Streetcar Named Given Circumstances

A couple of months ago my cousin and I were planning a weekend in New Haven, CT to see a play at Yale Rep. We had a perfect fall weekend in mind, but when I learned that A Streetcar Named Desire would be in performance at that time...ugh, I thought.

It's not that I have anything against A Streetcar Named Desire itself, it's just that every production I've ever seen has left me cheering when the folks at the end of the play come to take Blanche away. Not, I am sure, what Mr. Williams had intended! I figured that the Yale Rep production would be no different.

But I was wrong. Right from the top of the play the stage was electrified.
