Alas, July! My favorite month of the year.

I thought about all the super fun, summary things that I could do this month and finally settled on the very best one of them all: get off book for my solo show and rehearse, rehearse, rehearse!

My team and I are in full throttle getting ready for Vancouver Fringe Festival in September and United Solo in NYC starting in October.

Tickets are not yet available for Vancouver, but if you will be in the NYC area on Wednesday, October 7, please do come to my 9 PM performance of Rhonda Badonda: The Adventures of a Girl with a Pain in Her Brain.

Only a few seats are remaining for that performance. You can purchase tickets at: United Solo.

In the meantime, I'm busy Private Coaching as well as teaching my Wednesday evening Drop-In Acting Class.

And don't forget, the 29th Book Club for Actors meets on Monday, July 20 & Saturday, July 25. We are focusing on the later works of August Wilson.

And finally, a shout out to the actors of The Actor's Project NYC - congratulations on a great week of showcases! The Actor's Project NYC helps actors land representation and they are very successful in their mission. To be a part of theri next showcases, check them out at TAPNYC.

Wishing you a magical month of summer fun!

What's Going on with Acting Class?
GrowFor an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration.  It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.

The 10-week Core Acting Technique ended in June. The next session will be offered in the fall. Stay tuned for dates.

Ground your acting technique and inspire your soul by joining us for the weekly & ongoing Drop-In Acting Class - registration is on a class-by-class basis.

Rhonda is a caring, enthusiastic and committed acting coach with a true passion for our craft. You will be grateful to give yourself her gift.

Remaining reading time: 2.5 weeks

On Monday, July 20 & Saturday, July 25 we will be discussing the plays of August Wilson (Part II of a 2-part series).

The Book Club for Actors is offered twice; please choose either meeting:

WHEN: Monday, July 20, 7-9 - East Village

                 OR

                 Saturday, July 25, 3-5 - East Village

WHERE: Location will be e-mailed with RSVP confirmation.

We will be reading August Wilson's plays in historical order, focusing in July on the 2nd half of the 20th Century. All attendees are required to read Wilson's play Fences. Please visit the Art & Soul Acting Book Club for Actors page for the reading list of the 5 plays that comprise Part II of our study of August Wilson.

To ensure a robust conversation, participants are asked to read at least 3-4 plays.

Be ready to share what you have discovered about this amazing playwright so we can all learn and grow together.

Looking forward to it!

Creating a 'Character Roundtable' as Part of Relationship Work

business-deal-illustration.jpg

For an actor, it can sometimes seem that there is never enough rehearsal time. Clocks are ticking as soon as rehearsal begins and a director's agenda is priority.

If you have ever found yourself in this position on a project, you may feel like you're not getting the rehearsal that you need in order to do the job that is expected-not to mention the kind of acting work you know that you can do.

That's why it is crucial to learn how to create powerful rehearsals that you can do on your own. One of my students never begins a project without doing a Character Roundtable.
