Audition Workshop at Actors Pro Expo, 10:15 am
Lead by Rhonda Musak
Mastering the Audition Mindset that Books Acting Jobs
Auditioning is not a random process where an actor throws up their hands and hopes for the best. Rather, auditioning is a highly skilled, fine-tuned "performance" that is so illusory as to seem completely spontaneous. Supporting that process for an actor is the mindset that they bring into the audition room. At worst, an actor's mindset has the power to sabotage even the best acting skills. But at its best and most powerful, an actor's mindset has the ability to showcase an actor in a way that highlights and magnifies the acting skills they have to offer. Mastering the Audition Mindset that Books Acting Jobs is not a sit-in-your seat lecture. Actors will be on their feet during his hour-long seminar making discoveries that will leave them with a mindset ready to be their best in the audition room so they can book that job. Actors will:
- Shift their audition mindset from a "get" to a "give" framework, forever changing their auditioning experience.
- Learn how to walk into an audition room and get the auditioners attention immediately.
- Experience "the other side of the table" - i.e. what it's like to cast a show.

The 3 E's: An Actor's Guideline to Knowing Which Projects to Say Yes To
While I was in school, I had the great fortune to study with the wonderful Pilar Garcia for a brief time. Ms. Garcia is a phenomenal movement teacher, kind of heart and an inspiration. Not only did she inspire our bodies to move with precision, she also imparted to us something she called "The 3 E's" -- essentially, a guideline to use when determining if an offered project/role is worth the time and effort...
