Happy March greetings. Though there is snow on the ground, I'm thrilled to see sun in the sky! And we'll be getting even more of that on Sunday:
REMINDER:
Turn your clocks one hour ahead on Sunday, March 8 (2 AM).
Much going on here at Art & Soul Acting:

And big news on my end: I'm thrilled to announce that my first NYC performance date for my solo show will be in the United Solo Theatre Festival on Wednesday, October 7 at 9 PM.

What's Going on with Acting Class?
For an actor, acting class is the #1 laboratory for growth and exploration. It is the place to take risks...a safe harbor where it's okay to let go of perfection in lieu of stretching and expanding beyond limitations.
The Drop-In Acting Class is already in session and Core Acting Technique is in registration for a 3/17 start. Two classes to ground your acting technique and inspire your soul!
In just one class, Rhonda helped me work through a block I'd had for months! She makes her class feel like a family and encourages true freedom of expression. I felt like I'd worked with her for weeks in just that short amount of time and she seemed to know exactly what direction I needed to go. A great class for anyone looking to explore their work from a new perspective!

Core Acting Technique
Core Acting Technique is a dynamic, structured 10-week class designed to fortify and deepen the skills that go into brilliant acting while stretching students as artists and as human beings.
Class Structure
Acting exercises, take home assignments for in-class work and scene study make up the bulk of each class. This powerful classroom work allows students to grow at a rapid pace while creating an acting foundation that will serve for a lifetime.
This is not a sit in your seat lecture. Students are up on their feet working in every class in a supportive environment that allows them to really take risks and fly. Class size is kept small so that participants have time to be up on their feet working, making mistakes, learning from their mistakes and growing into ever more powerful actors.

Vocal Remedies for Actors
A strong and expressive speaking voice ranks among the top requirements of actors. But what do you do when your vocal cords, or vocal folds (as they are now commonly referred to), are down and the only thing coming out of your mouth is silence? Or even when you're experiencing vocal fatigue due to overusing your voice?
As my acting students can attest, I am no stranger to laryngitis...

Recommendation: Triangle Fire Chalking
|
I'm making discoveries all the time and want to share them with you!
Living in the East Village, I have been moved for the past several years by the beautiful remembrance tribute to the 146 Triangle Shirtwaist Factory Fire victims of 1911. On March 25, I will join this project which chalks the names of the (mostly) women -- girls, really -- on the sidewalk in front of their family homes.
To join me on March 25 in honoring my long-ago neighbors who lost their lives in unsafe working conditions, please sign up by connecting with the project's founder, Ruth Sergel, at her website: |
