Once again, we've cycled around to back-to-school time and the close of another summer. I hope yours has been lovely and a you've been able to take full advantage of all that the season has to offer.
It was an absolutely fabulous summer for me as I spent the better part of June leading my Summer Acting Intensive for Teens workshops, in July I began rehearsal for my solo show, and in August I saw 10 solo shows in the New York International Fringe Festival and took a restful vacation to Fire Island.
After a mid-August, end-of-summer break, Art & Soul Acting is once again in full force! Drop-In Acting Class begins tomorrow, September 4th and I'll be back private coaching next week...which also coincides with the 24th gathering of the Book Club for Actors - - this meeting will focus on the plays of Pulitzer-winning playwright Annie Baker.
And I'm also thrilled to say that along with NYC, Chicago, and live-online, the Leap with Passion workshop will also be offered in Portland, Maine.
All right, Fall - - bring it on!

8 Keys to Getting the Most Out of Acting Class
An easy way to begin this article would be by saying something like "everybody always asks me such-and-such..." I would then follow that statement up by answering the question etc. etc. But I can't do that here! For nobody ever asks me how they can get the most out of acting class, but - lucky you! - I'm going to tell you anyway.
As an acting coach, I am a fanatic about making sure that actors (and my actors in particular) are getting the absolute most out of acting class. Resources are precious for actors...

How to Rehearse a Scene Without Wasting Time - Part I of II
You know the drill...you're in an acting class and you've been assigned a scene with a partner. It's a great scene and you've really been looking forward to working with this actor. You do all the requisite things that you do when you begin to work on the scene including scheduling a time to meet. You choose to meet at your scene partner's apartment for rehearsal.
On the day of your scheduled rehearsal, you show up on time but discover that you and your scene partner share the same hobby. How exciting! Conversation ensues as the hands on the clock begin to tick...
